I hope Ron does mature quickly and fast enough to accept Harry and what he is now. But Ron does have centuries of prejudice thrown upon him. People always telling him what is what. I mean, look at how he reacted to Remus at the end of Book 3. I don't think I can actually think of any other point in any of the books where Ron is actually alone with Remus without Harry, Hermione, or anyone else is there.
It's hard to get away from perceieved notions that has been your views for most of your life.
Ron is very quick to judge. Although in Book 6, it does show Ron maturing, so I hope that you can convey that as wonderfully as you've been allowing Harry to mature and grow out of his shell.
