The thing about getting the DVDs on ... um, DVD, is that you can watch the shows back to back, and if one sucks you can move on to another and not lose interest.

What really sold me hardcore on the show was the first season's midseason cliffhangers, The Storm and The Eye. Three of the characters (Sheppard, Weir and McKay) are in the fight for their lives and the lives for everyone on the expedition and plot combined with the human drama (not really sci-fi, it's an action show) was just OMG great.

And it was all downhill from there for me :D
