Yeah, current state of the ohnoezgays! is interesting. The phobia actually falls over into the civvie corps, too. State department you can be as queer as a three dollar bill, as the saying goes, but it's not socially acceptable in the dod.
Also, I gave up on SGA fandom when they had everyone gay and proud when in reality, most of them would have been gay and fired, or at best, closeted and miserable. But it didn't seem to matter to most ficcers/fans, and that bugged me. So I checked out. If you haven't read artaxastra's SGA stuff, you should. She's the only other writer besides you I'll touch, because she's that good. Reality like whoa.
It's an interconnected universe of fics, back stories, shopping trips, and tangents so it's best to start at the beginning. Also it's John/Teyla, with a very complicated history for John that seems similar to how you see the character.
