Date: 2005-09-28 02:47 am (UTC)Another thing I was thinking about was how all the strong women in his life are not "available" to Harry. I'm thinking really of Hermione, and to a lesser extent Tonks, Fleur, and Ginny (pre HBP). None of those girls are ones Harry conciously thinks that are potential girlfriends. The closest he's come is Cho, and we all know how beautifully that turned out.
Now he's around women like Anita, Cherry, Vivian, Meng Die, who while still are "not available" they haven't known Harry since he was a little kid. Harry sees them in a more mature light and, for all that he's 17, he's still almost grown. Meng Die, for example, has noted that. And Anita being so very upset over Ronnie's comment is only a little bit because she's noticed as well.
