Mind the Gap 8.3 is posted! And just to mess with people's heads, it's a Faith point of view! The one and only chapter. I just needed to write this chapter. ExpandTalk on the chapter, cut for spoilers )

Things I'm working on:
-Masks epilogue
-FFA entry featuring more MG characters
-Inevitable Nine
-Original stuff

Mind the Gap 8.2 is updated. It's all Anita and Jean-Claude. Consequences of Anita's injury.

I'm probably going to annoy a few people, but in this chapter's author's notes, I reveal the direction the sequel will take. Yup, the much mentioned aftermath of Over Flame is going to be the sequel to Mind the Gap.

I'm scared just thinking of it.

... looking at my posts in the journal, I'm writing a hella lot of stuff. Man. Oh well. Everyone's got to have a hobby. This keeps me off the streets.

Mind the Gap 8.1 is up! We're on the home stretch. Four more chapters to go. An Anita chapter (no, she's not dead), then a chapter where I mess with my POV again and have a Faith chapter, then the wrap-up exposition chapter where Dawn and Anita face off, with Dawn POV. Then the epilogue. Then I'm *done*.

I should have another chapter of Inevitable up tomorrow. It's actually done now, but I want to go over it again tomorrow. Just to make sure I'm not nuts.

I've been getting good feedback over Inevitable. And I'm feeling more positive about it than a lot of what I've been writing. I feel my ideas are solid, plot-wise, and we're taking very few leaps of faith here. There is the requisite OMG coming up in chapter five, but you'll all forgive me in the end. And no, Edward isn't a Malfoy in this fic.

Taa daa! The first two chapters of Inevitable, my Hary Potter/Anita Blake crossover, are posted! Please tell me what you think.

Also, does anyone know why Mind the Gap suddenly has another thousand hits in the last eight hours? Anyone know if someone's linked it somewhere? There are no new chapters up.

Oh my

Mind the Gap's now on the top fic page (under by hits).

That's... wow. I feel like putting in a "hit me baby one more time" joke, but I've just been watching four hours of Angel and my brain's fried.

Thanks guys!

MtG 7.8

Mind the Gap 7.8 is up. Yay chapter seven is done! All I need to do now is write all five parts of chapter eight and the epilogue and I'm done!

Chapter 7.7 got a hilarious review. After I whumped Kennedy good, someone said, "You bastard! You killed Kennedy!"

Tee hee.
mhalachai: (Default)
Mind the Gap 7.7 is up. Action all the way, baby.

Maybe now I can get some work done.

ETA: Oh! Mind the Gap has over 20,000 hits! Thanks everyone!

Because I am such a tease, Mind the Gap 7.6 has been updated.

It's a good thing I have a 7kb text minimum for these chapters, because otherwise I'd have forgotten to put in an important plot point.

Oh well. Next chapter, Willow goes medival!

Mind the Gap 7.5 is up. For a fic that started out with the sole plot of Dawn's birthday is at a vampire strip club, it's certainly grown, neh?

I've started reading Charline Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm surprised I'm so into them, mostly because her other series (Aruora Tegaran or whoever) just leaves me cold. I cannot connect with the female lead there in any way. She is just so colourless, in the ones I've read, that I can't get involved.

I came to the realization that I'm not treating season seven of Buffy as canon. This cannot be good.

Mind the Gap 7.4 is up. Another short Dawn chapter. I'm probably going to get people whining about something in it, but that will be resolved next chapter so I'm not going to care.

I wonder if using so many female characters is a knee-jerk reaction to the utter lack of XX chromosomes in Incubus Dreams. Probably not.

Okay, the growing epic that is Mind the Gap is up to chapter 7.3. And yes, Faith saves the day. And no one gets naked. Sorry.

I realized that I had two agregious errors last chapter. We had "Fait raised her eyebrows." and "...letting a little writing wave run down her body." Gah.

Anyway, I'm thinking I need to tackle Masks again. I'm going to take it in a different direction, but I think that the story will be better for it.

And other fics... I'm going to start posting my HP/AB fic soon. It's currently untitled in a folder named "AB v HP". The title needs some work, I will admit.

At the risk of sounding maudlin, time to sleep, perchance to dream.

Dam nit

I think I backed myself into a corner with the ending of the last chapter of MtG. There's only one way out, but then to properly track the reactions, I have to take the story on a track I didn’t want to go, namely, involving Willow. I always feel really bad at writing Willow and Xander, properly in character. But I have done what I've done, and so I must do what I must do.

I should have a MtG update by Thursday or Friday.
mhalachai: (Default)
So it turns out that I wrote and posted a total of 39,172 words on TTH over my 10-day vacation. Mind the Gap grew by 30,481 words to 60,704, and my FFA shorts went up by 8,691 words to 16,071.

Hmm.

So the last update before the end of vacation is done. Mind the Gap 7.2 is up. ExpandMy feelings )

I've got the climax scene all set up (mind OUT of the gutter, this isn't that kind of story) and am ready to type, but real life will jump out and stop that, I'm sure. Three nights with plans already this week. Eeek.

Since I'm drawing to the end of Mind the Gap, anyone have any ideas what I should tackle next?

MtG update

Well, we've finally progressed onto chapter seven of this little debacle. Anita finally crashes, says things she shouldn't, and gets to point her gun at all kinds of people. Good times.

I'm going to try for another part tomorrow, then I'm back to work so the timeline will slow down. But I'm not letting myself start anything new until MtG is over and done. Okay, except for the FFAs, but those don't count.
mhalachai: (Default)
Five entries in FFA today:
Over Tea (Giles/Ginny)
Over Champagne (The Mayor/Bruce Wayne)
Over the Phone (Harmony/Bert Vaughn)
Over Books (Tara/Frost)
Over Bodies (Dawn/Frank Kohanek)

I gave myself two hours for FFAs, and these are what I got. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Expandso there was this review... )
ETA: I'm insane. She was talking about the intrinsic perils of crossing Buffy and Anita Blake. Never mind me.

Mind the Gap 6.4 is up. We spend some time looking at what poor Dawnie is going through, because, oh yeah, this story is about Dawn.

I think I have about six more chapters to go. No less, that's for sure. I originally planned for this thing to have only eight chapters, did you know? We're already at 12.

But, enjoy. Happy New Year!

Mind the Gap's next section, Day Six, part three, is posted! Go me.

I'm hoping that no one will have foreseen the Big Bad in this one. I had a hell of a time with the research, but to my utter surprise, it worked. I only had to tweak a few facts from Norse mythology to make it all work. No making stuff up!

Other things in this section. The reason I used Kennedy and Faith in this story, as opposed to Buffy, because of a theme I hope to explore later, if not in this story than in another, related. (Maybe that sequel to Over Flame that everyone keeps asking for and that keeps teasing at my mind). Faith, as part of her redemption (which we touched on in the fight between Faith and Anita in the previous section), and Kennedy, because Kennedy is an old-school Slayer, even if she is one of the Scrappy gang. Anita's like them both, in ways, but unlike in many others, and those differences are what make her even more dangerous.

I was watching the first episode of season five Buffy, Dracula, and I think that's my excuse for the vampire v. vampire differences between the Buffy world and the Anita world. I'll explore that later, or maybe not at all.

The next chapter will be Dawn, because we've let her fester alone with the demon for long enough. I'll try and have that up tomorrow, but I need to rewatch some select DVD sections to get the right reactions. Luckily for me, I've got all three Dawn seasons on my shelf (only one is mine; I've borrowed the other two).

I can't promise I'll be able to get the story done by the time my vacation is over, but if not, then I'll update as often as I can. I'm as interested to see how it turns out as you are.

I'm thinking of starting fan vid recs here. Only problem is that I've managed to lose the original file names of most of these vids, and the makers don't put their names on the vids. Oh well. I'll see if I can track them down.

I figure I may as well churn out the parts of Mind the Gap while the spirit with with me. Part 6b is up.
mhalachai: (Default)
Mind the Gap 6a is up. It's another Anita section. I was going to have more Slayerness in it, but that would make it the longest chapter EVAR and so chapter six will have probably three parts. Oh well. My fic, my wonky chapter system.

I'm contemplating doing more FFA, but the only ones that appeal to me are pairings I put up. We'll see.
