caution: swearing

I swear to *god*, I have never been so close to abandoning Inevitable as I am right now. Think I can go back a few chapters and have Olaf and Nathaniel having a nice tea party instead? At this point, it would be less painful to spork my eyes out. This chapter is never going to fucking end.

[/rant]

yeah, yeah, back at it. No fic abandonage today.

So, um, today's link/rec/point: Today's Harry Potter news:

The Vatican's whipped out its head exorcist to say Harry Potter is evil. As anyone who's read [livejournal.com profile] mctabby's summary executions knows, he's right.

A blogger is comparing those recently unveiled claim that Judas was helping Jesus, as published in the Gospels of Judas, with the actions of Snape in HBP.

ETA: Sheesh, I'm whining again, aren't I? Somebody slap me. Really, I do enjoy writing. I do, I do, I do believe in fairies.

Note that Pope John Paul II actually liked and promoted the novels. Further confirming that he is the Kick-Ass Pope and Benedict XVI is the Stick-in-the-Mud Pope.

I'm on Ch. 43 of Inevitable, by the way, and closing fast.

tea party? Okay, back away from the keyboard.

Hey! Here's sending you happy calm thoughts in order to make your day a little brighter.

*hugs and kisses*

*hugs* okay hun. you really need a break I mean seriously tea parties...*shudders* I have told you how awesome I think you are? and I really mean it..but as much as I love your fic I don't want you to be frustrated sooo take a break,relax..this is supposed to be fun remember. *gives you a cookie*

[identity profile] beachmouse.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Writing is fun and enjoyable.

If you need a little break, you could mess around with livejournal, and start requiring people to use kittenauth before posting:

Would it be a tea party of doom? (lol...sry, that was something from a story I just finished reading =P)

Breaks are good, they are your friend. The story won't go anywhere, it's in your mind, after all. It would be sad to see you all stressed out. After a walk (did you go for a walk?) maybe read some more of those summary executions...those were figgin hilarious!!

I do believe in fairies, I do I do! (best movie eva, swear to gosh! hehe)
and whining's not that bad, everyone does it. We forgive you! ;)

[identity profile] elle-blessing.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Peter Pan is the best movie ever!!! (Pssst!...I believe in fairies too ;)

[identity profile] hartswood47.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yes I agree, take as much time as you need. The important thing is that you don't feel pressured to write when it won't flow. Plus Nathaniel is resilient, I'm sure he'll bounce right back! And Anita will just deal with it by burying it in her subconscious to fester like she usually does. Unless you've got some character development planned? Oooh I love character development. Say you have some planned!

Goodness, honey, you need a break. Take a month or two off if you need to. I think we'd all rather wait then have you abandon our obsession all together. ^__^

As for the Vatican thing... There are some days I wonder why I'm converting to Catholicism. Close minded morons. *sigh*

[identity profile] shadowartemis.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
*pat pat* Take your time. I believe all of the Inevitable fans will agree that the chapters are worth the wait.

It is good, that you enlighten people about Harry Potter, because those are subtle seductions..

"Are you a Slytherin or a Gryffindor like Potter? Seduce me subtly, babe!" *is lame and too tired to be creative*

Those summary executions are brilliant. I've never seen anyone do that with the summaries before. *love*

[identity profile] crazy-vasey.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
The second link doesn't work. Flamed off the Internet, perhaps? Anyway, that first link does not come as a surprise. First thing I ever heard about this new pope was comments he made while still the lower rank (cardinal?) about Harry Potter being evil or something like that. He seems much more conservative about his religion than the last pope was.

[identity profile] booster17.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
The summary link is freaking hysterical.

Harry breaks the charms Dumbledore placed on him and now he's pissed! Forced to hide his true identity for his whole life, he escapes the abuse of his relatives and with the help of Mad-Eye Moody, becomes who he is meant to be... Shadow Rhea Isis Riddle, daughter of Tom Riddle, Severus Snape and none other that Lily Evans will take her place by her fathers' sides. Many surprises are in store for her on her way back to her true home and family...including some interesting news about her heritage!A unique phoenix calls to her, love finds her, and a realization about her mother are a few things in store for Lady Lightning, the Dark Princess. (Includes abuse, rape, femslash, slash, vampire Harry Shadow, Dark Harry Shadow, and Manipulative Dakrish Lord Dumbeldore)

........Is it bad to want to read this now?

[identity profile] shopteacher-guy.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I know what you could do with the story...

Insert a shiny red plot device that has the ability to absorb the angst like a Bounty paper towel!

[identity profile] firefox1490.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Dont abandon,Dont abandon. That'd be bad. I'd rbe really sad. Like crying sad the kinda sad that would make me want to hunt you down and think about forcing you to finish or atleast tell me how it was to end. Dont abandon please. Maybe if its stressing you out take a break go buy a new book and read it or find new music or something just dont abandon. You'd make me sad.

[identity profile] rose1thorn.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)

*hugs* You've been working pretty hard on Inevitable lately. No one will be mad if you take a break for a while. It'll give me a chance to get caught up anyway. ;)

Seriously, you're doing a great job. Things will work themselves out if you just give it a chance. It's possible you're trying to hard right now. Take a break. Don't even think about it for a while. Come back to it with fresh eyes when you're ready.

[identity profile] watcher457.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, honey. i'm working on this novella i've been commissioned to write a novella and i know exactly how it's going to go, but the characters just want to talk and talk and talk. talking is great, but twenty pages of talking and debating about what's going to happen next. where is the fun in that? and they are resisting action. punk monkeys. *beats them*

btw, did you get that e-mail i sent you?

Whatever you do...

[identity profile] annf.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Just don't say you are going to update soon. That's the kiss of death - permanent writer's block.

Maybe an interlude? Like what a certain first year's pard thinks about letters home and HP?

[identity profile] spoonfuloftears.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope the story and characters will stop having fights with you. I don't think I've ever seen someone write so long chapters in such short time. I don't know how you manage, I'm stunned speechless.

On the hype over the Potter books. I figure that the ones making all the fuss has never actually read them. I remember reading a couple of years back about someone, catholic i think *gasp*, thinking that it was horrible that children believed in what was written in the books (because they're evil, err).

One of the proofs that the children were sure that Hogwarts existed, was that they wrote letters to the headmaster, to get accepted. Truly horrible.

What frightens me is the view he must have of children. He must think that they're complete idiots for starters. It also got me wondering what he thinks of children writing letters to Santa.

Deep breaths. Take a step away, go pursue some tasty caffiene, and start afresh in a bit. we'll still be here waiting for you.

[personal profile] syien_island 2006-04-12 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Please don't let the crazy world force you into abandonage!!! If you do, someone else (especially someone with a bad case of Mary Sue-itits) will want to continue Inevitable and it will suck like the suckiest suck that ever sucked!

I hear you...

[identity profile] thaliagreene.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I know how you feel. Sometimes a fic just takes on a life of its own, and it just keeps growing and growing and growing...

Inevitable=Energizer bunny

Just remember, we love you just as much as we love Inevitable. Sit back, take a breath, drink some coffee, and let your fingers do the walking. Don't wear yourself out.

Mood: frustrated

(Anonymous) 2006-04-12 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry you're frustrated but I just wanted to let you know that I've loved the story so far and especially enjoyed the last chapter (63). Do you think you could have Damian straighten Nat and Anita out through the tri link? I'm sure whatever you do will be as wonderful as the rest. Don't give up on us now!
I do wonder though, why did Harry, Ginny and Luna need to use the room of requirement? Were they hiding from someone?
Hope the muses shower inspiration on your head.
Peri

While as a writer I understand how difficult it is to keep going when we're 'torturing' our characters, I implore you to keep going. LKH is always talking about how she struggles with it, and you've captured the characters so incredibly well, it is no wonder that you would o that same. I just read the entire thing for the first time in only two sittings (sleep did become necessary) and it is a very moving, compelling and oftentimes poiniant work. Keep with the writing, know that when you get to the part where you can sooth them, that you will feel so much more complete.

Take care,
Galen
