Fic rec and poll for teh funness

First, a Firefly fic rec: Brotherly Love 6 snapshots of Simon and River by [livejournal.com profile] dodo31. A look at Simon and River's relationship over the years. The first one had me laughing out loud at the computer. It starts off like this: Simon Tam loved his sister, and vowed he always would. Even if he didn't think she was human. *nudges* Go read.

Then, a note. Morena Baccarin is 27 days older than I am and about a zillion times hotter. I need some Inara screenshots. Anyone got any?

Now, a Harry Potter poll:

Who's crazy enough to make crazy potions while Snape is nearby? Suicidal much?-)

(staggers in under own power for a change)

Pardon my germs -- or viruses, as the case may be.

(staggers out again)

Mmmm, potions. That was the best part of chemistry. I always scored perfect in all my labs, not so much in the classes. If I could spend all day making potions, I'd still be a chemist.

Of course the Giant Squid is male. Aren't /all/ tentacle monsters? *pause* Nevermind, that's in anime-land. And I'm curious whether spending all my time flying around on a broom /has/ to contradict spending hours in the library...(Madame Pince: "Get off that broom this instant! This is the library, not the Quidditch pitch!")

They're all going to die, except the Hat. That's just the way things go.

can the hat even die?

I mean it is not a human being, it is an object...

Guess my voting tells you how I want it to go, doesn't it. Die Ron! Die! I've been waiting for him to bite it since book 4. Brat!

just ignore my inane responses, but they all bite it in the end. yes, sorting hat. even you. jerk.

Well, you know, Snape can't be everywhere at once (and if you're in Slytherin, it might be doable :)

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2006-05-09 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
hope you feel better soon.

I was great in organic chemistry lab, failed the class twice. My teacher saw no need to teach us about electrons and what they were doing. Bastard.

Aren't /all/ tentacle monsters?
I so totally knew someone was going to go there :D

(Madame Pince: "Get off that broom this instant! This is the library, not the Quidditch pitch!")

Or reading a book on a broom. Oh, they totally need to have podcasts made of books, so you can listen while playing Quidditch.

An excellent end to a children's book, if I do say so myself.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2006-05-10 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
*shrug* someone might set it on fire...

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2006-05-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. Tell me how you really feel :D

I think it'd be nice if JKR ended the story just like your icon said. I think the LJ HP fandom would simultaneously implode.

I think it stopped being a children's book right around the time when the 12 year old stabbed a book with the tooth of a basilisk. I actually saw the first two films before reading any of the books, then I had to read them to find out more about these 'children's books'.

Probably, but not before storming her house and hanging her by the heels.

*snickers* the screams of agony would echo off the moon for years to come.

Have you watched any of the extras on the GoF DVD? There's an interview with Ralph Fiennes, and he's talking about the graveyard scene, and he really brings it all into perspective by saying that here's an adult who's torturing a defenseless little boy, and that's really not a children's story at all.

Hearing him say that, in his suave quiet Ralph Fiennes voice, sent shivers up my spine, because he's very, very right.
