Slash poll

All right, kids: humour me. Another poll, this one thought up while reading another lj about slash. As before, please fill it out and pimp it in your own lj so I can get a good response. Also, please tell me about why you do/do not read/write slash in comments. Love to all.

[Poll #478509]

And you're totally right. I was thinking last night, about slashing the AB guys... I just cannot do it. Unless they've indicated they are into the man-sex, my brain does the rebely thing. No! it shouts. Same with Buffy. Yes, Willow is bi, but Xander is not... and when I see Xander and Spike, all I can ever think is, "but they hate each other". Le sigh.

fanon backstory should NOT be assumed!

Testify.

One of the best lines I ever read was in regard to a Buffy/Willow/Xander menage a trois and worked perfectly for me. Can't remember the exact quote, but it was along the lines of "Buffy's straight with a Willow exception, while Willow's gay with a Xander exception".

With all those three have been through together, I can see that.

That is a wonderful line. HEck if I remember which fic it was. HOnestly, thought it was one of yours.

My brain's finally been jogged enough to remember it was the Buffy/Willow/Xander (http://www.livejournal.com/community/buffyverse1000/482.html?thread=50914) entry for the [livejournal.com profile] buffyverse1000.

The exact quote was "He doesn't bother to explain that Willow's gay-with-a-Xander-exception and Buffy's straight-with-a-Willow-exception."

Y'know, I've got a friend who writes Spike/Xander almost exclusively, so I try not to pick overly much .. but I just don't get it. She's attempted to explain it to me, and I still don't get it. Of course, this could have something to do with the fact that I really liked Spike as a character (less certain if I'd want him around in real life), and really couldn't stand Xander in any form or fashion.

Of course, I write Willow/Snape and I know some folks can't stand Willow in a straight relationship .. I think I've addressed the issues sufficiently. I hope. Oh well.

Which AB guys were you thinking of slashing? 'Cause a lot of them are bisexual in canon . .

a comment in which I display that my memory is indeed photographic

I wasn't actually planning on slashing any of our boys any time soon, it was a conversation I was having with [livejournal.com profile] beren_writes about if there was ever a time that Richard could be slashed. But let's look at the usual suspects:

Jean-Claude: Bi, but Byron makes a comment in ID that his only real interest in guys lies with Asher.
Richard: is a mess, but as things stand right now, we can put him in the straight camp.
Asher: Bi
Nathaniel: Bi, but how much of that was necessity of being a prostitute and the subbiest sub ever to sub in St. Louis?
Micah: Straight. Makes a comment in ID about how any of Chimera's personalities wouldn't have sex with him because of it.
Damian: Straight. Also, the 1000 years of torture reinforced that.
Jason: Has indicated he's curious, but as of the end of ID he's still lusting after the femmes
Zane: Bi
Stephen: Even though Anita originally thought he was gay (b/c she's strange), is dating a girl. See reasoning above on Nathaniel for possible bi-ness.
Gregory: Ditto to Stephen, although he does like the ladies.
Requiem: Straight, made comments to this effect in ID
Byron: Usually all about the boys. I think Jason was surprised that he'd ... I really want to be all euphemistic here and say 'sleep with', but there was no sleep involved. Anyway.

So, to make a long story short (too late!, the only male characters I could put togther and not have my head explode under the pressure would be JC/Asher, Asher/Jason (although I'm sure it breaks some sort of pomme de sang rules), Byron/Jason (hmm)... I'd leave Zane and Stephen out of it because they're dating Cherry and Vivian, respectivly, and I'm not really as fond of them as the other characters.

But my heart still lies in writing Anita, and she's so straight you could use her to measure stuff.

Actually, I've got a hint of a slash thingy for Inevitable, but it's only the barest of thoughts (on the character's part). In fact, forget I even mentioned it.

You might posibly manage Asher/Byron or Byron/JC UST. Except with Asher there's the issue of how he perceives himself because of his scars.
