Today's Miscellany

I never knew how many of my f-listers were from Australia until there was an election. Have fun with your new government, guys.

Today's dictionary/historical lolz:

Parr, Catherine: (1512-48), sixth wife of Henry VIII, who married him in 153 and survived him.

[emphasis mine]

I'm such a nerd.

Yeah, I know. He only decpaitated two of his wives, but it's still funny :)

If this week ever ends it will be a miracle of biblical proportions.

She might not have done if one of my ancestors hadn't kept her mouth shut (under horrific torture) and refused to implicate Catherine Parr as a Protestant. They burned her at the stake, and she became a Protestant martyr. Anne Askew, if you're struck with an unearthly desire to look it up.

On a more geeky note, this means I have a tenuous link to Henry Fitzroy... Eee! :D

Before I ever had an understanding of who Henry VIII was I knew one thing: divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. In fact I would still have no hope of matching the women's names to their fate!

In order: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Bolyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Kathryn Howard, Katherine Parr. :-D *geek*

If only you'd told me this before the cruise. We had this question in trivia and all I could remember was that it was Katherine :(
And my Liberal (conservative/Republican) voting niece actually said she wished my Dad (staunch Labor, Absolutely HATED Little Johnnie) was still alive to see Little Johnnie getting his bum kicked. Oh well now we have PM K-Rudd. (Aren't we respectful of our Pollies. Mind you we did elect to Parliament the lead singer of Midnight Oil!)
