The Sky, She Falls

There's the news going around now about how Livejournal's Russian owners laid off half the staff in LA: The Russian Bear Slashes a Social Network. Livejournal twittered about it and released a press release. As posted by [livejournal.com profile] beren_writes, news from CNet: LiveJournal deletes 'about a dozen' jobs. So no need to panic.

However, people are backing up their ljs, which is sound practice in any event. I use lj archive (it grabs comments).

But the point of this post on my part is to tell you where you can find me in the unlikely event of a water landing collapse.

All my writing is posted at my website, http://mhalachaiswords.com/writing/. If LJ goes down, I'll make commenting allowed by people who are not logged in, and put up a blog. My other main fic posting locations are Twisting the Hellmouth and Pomme De Sang. I'm also "on the Google" as Mhalachai.

To sum up: Problems. Don't panic. Find me in your local supermarket checkout line.

Thank you for the advice, I'm trying to download and install ljArchive and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I can't find an Install command, do you have any advice?

Here (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=143280&package_id=157384&release_id=403625) is a direct link to the download page - I grabbed the .exe file to not bother with the zip file - it's for Windows computers. And just open the .exe file and the install wizard goes at it.

Thanks! I finally figured out I needed .NET before ljArchive would run ::facepalm:: I really am computer illiterate!

if you are looking for something like live journal, there is always dead journal, it is not a populated and the only way to get one is for someone to give you a code, but I have a ton of them if you want one

I have an insane journal, but never use it. The reason i use LJ is the community here... I'm not willing to give up on it yet (mostly because I've paid up until November) but if push comes to shove, I may take you up on that offer, thanks :)

You frequent a lot of sites and fanfic archives I frequent so I'm not worried about not finding you ever ever again if lj goes down. Anywhoo, you still have to finish Inevitable.

I do have to finish Inevitable. I'm... trying. That's all I can say :(

[personal profile] syien_island 2009-01-06 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No pressure ^_^

I did the archive \0/ and I've bookmarked your website. Don't want to miss any POTS ;-)

PotS is eating my brain. Trying to write Rodney's internal monologue, and make it match with how he acts, is *hard*. But delicious.

To be random; are these two Inevitable ficlets on your site - Empty Eyes (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/238080.html) and Like Dying (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/91149.html)? I was bored, so I was looking through your tags and I don't remember seeing these in the series section.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Empty Eyes was up there (I missed adding it to the series tho), but Like Dying was not. It must have been missed in the massive upload of 2007. It's up now, and thank you SO MUCH for catching this. It's these missing scenes that really sold me on the story. If that makes sense :)

Your welcome. The missing scenes are often my favorite part of the story also.

I think I found a few more that are not up either - Sticks and Stones and A Girl Like Her (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/242475.html), Dysfunctional, but cute (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/60964.html), and A Less Civilized Crowd (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/62364.html#cutid2).

*headdesk* I thought I got them all. GAH.

Thank you again

Umm... found one more...? (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/236749.html)

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect that all the shorts from the ficlette fiascos are missing. Because I'm too lazy to write a summary? I dunno. Thanks a billion for digging this out for me! I'll be putting those up in a few days :)

Digging these out can be fun. I get to reread some of your older stuff :)

I think I found a few more, though. But these should be the last of them missing. (i think...)

Three AB drabbles (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/179565.html), the first drabble here, the 2nd one seems to be up (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/179858.html), Growth Spurt (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/172923.html), and 2 more AB drabbles (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/168772.html).

They might already be up and I missed them as the Anita Blake section on your site is the largest.
