I also joined up over at [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 for Anita Blake, the character. Yowza. Actually, I can use most of my old drabbles, so I won't have to be too creative :D

What's your favorite kind of hot beverage in this weather?

[identity profile] hsifyppah.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Coffee. Only coffee makes the thoughts of hibernation go away.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, coffee. Coffee is awesome. I need some right now.

Lovely icons. I especially like the River one - so ghostly.

My favourite hot drink in this weather is not to have a hot drink (it's almost summer, and the temperature's rising); though I do like tea. A nice tisane of lemon and honey :)

so ghostly

It was a new technique I was trying, and I like the way it worked out.

Do you have any tea in there, or is it just lemon juice and honey? I do that when I'm sick and wanting the vitamin C infusion.

[identity profile] deepfishy.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
How did you do it? Set opacity to 50%, or something else?

No actual tea in the lemon-honey thing. I recently learned that tealess tes are called tisanes; it's such a pretty word, people should use it more often!
I've also had some absolutely gorgeous jasmine "tea" made from rolled-up jasmine flowers.

I tend to drink tea at home, but if I'm out, coffee. Real hot chocolate, too.

(sorry if I haven't left any comments for your recent fic updates - been a bit out of it with uni work. But I loved them all, especially the new Switchback chapter)

Re opacity: I think so. The image of River facing the camera had a nice set of curved metal on the bank side, and when I lowered the opaticy on the top lawer (River facing away), it shone through and looked like an overlying light effect.

I totally understand about the lack of time to comment on things. Sometimes, I read fics and love them so much, but can't find any words that make sense other than "Yay! Loved it! Whee!" so I remain silent :)

I'm not in your weather but my favorite beverages for cold wet weather are licorice/peppermint tea, mexican chocolate [not sweet, add chili powder, cream, etc.], a good strong cafe au lait, and various things alcoholic.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep hearing good things about Mexican hot chocolate. I must try this one day. We have a derth of good Mexican places up here.

[identity profile] houses7177.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I've never had it at a Mexican place, actually. I make it myself. You can get good Mexican cocao, though I'm out, but you can also make it yourself by taking high quality dark chocolate, melting it in a saucepan with cream and milk, adding mexican chili powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and a bit of brown sugar. Mmm.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man. Now my tummy is rumbling.

[identity profile] houses7177.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It definitely warms you up, but you have to be careful not to burn the milk/cream/chocolate mixture when you're heating it up.

And, lucky me, my stomach is rumbling too. Yet I have nothing to make this with. Wah!

Those icons are hawt. :D

And I'm very torn on the hot beverage issue. Generally I'm obsessed with coffee in all its forms...but in the wintertime I switch of with that and hot chocolate, and sometimes decaf green&peppermint tea blend when the caffeine gets to be too much for even me to handle.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, eh.

I, too, am obsessed with coffee in all its forms. I think we drink more coffee per capita here in Vancouver than anywhere else in Canada. We are very into our Starbucks. Mmm, coffee. I want some right now. I think having to be up at 4:30 am does that to a girl.

snagged Mal and River, will credit, of course. both very lovely.

*g* Glad you like them.

A loose leaf blend of egyptian chamomille-licorice infusion. Helps with the headaches and sore throats from the alergies and staying up too late.

On really hot days, I either get a nice, sharp coke from McD's or a mudslide freeze (made with a shot of cappacino) from the Border's Bookstore Cafe. mmm yummy.

The tea sounds nice. I am a fan of chamomille myself.

I'm kicking myself now, because I forgot to get some hot chocolate mix when I was at the grocery store today! Arrgh. Must. Get. Off. Ass. And. Go. To. Store. Again.

Your Firefly icons are nice, but I really love your Dumbledore pic. He looks like he's joined up with P-Funk, exhorting the fans to Get Down!!!

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
He's awesome. He's my disco Dumbledore.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Now I've got the Disco Duck song in my brain. Arg.
