I'm watching Batman Forever (the one with the Bat Nipples and Val Kilmer). Man, this movie licks. I want to go see Batman Begins again. I guess I know what I'm buying when it comes out.
Well, I like watching this series called Dead Like Me, people who have died and are now reapers and take the souls of the living, but they don't get paid for it, so they have to get real life jobs and still do their reapers jobs.
There's M.A.S.H dvd's.
Firefly.
Smallville
Buffy the Vampire Slayer *ebil grin* and Angel.
Stargate SG-1...I could probably go on and on. But that's what type of shows I liked, at least shows i have on DVD. Oh! You can also check out Neverwhere. It's by Neil Gaiman for dvd's, that's is an awsome series.
Hrm. You've got a good point about Firefly. I keep meaning to get that. I've got all the Buffy I want right now, and wasn't a big enough Angel fan to buy the DVDs.
Stargate SG1... they stopped showing it contemporaneiously in Canada after season five, so I've got three missing years. Grr.
Yeah, that's the one. And the small game of tug-o-war. Bad dog!
*hugs her copy of Dog Soldiers* I'm writing a thesis on werewolves in contemporary culture, and Dog Soldiers stands out. Definitely my favourite of the werewolf movies.
Robert Rodriguez has a series of 'Ten Minute Film School' things for El Mariachi/Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico, which are pretty cool. Also a ten minute cooking school :). It's interesting to listen to him because he's obviously really involved in his films (and also makes you believe you really *could* go out and shoot a film).
Of course, the commentaries-and-extras to end all c&e are on the Lord of the Rings DVDs...
Don't know what sort of movies you're into . . my most recent DVD purchase was 'The 13th Warrior'. The book (not of the same title, it's 'Eaters of the Dead' by Michael Crichton - one can see why that wouldn't have worked for a movie) was better, but the movie was not too bad in terms of staying true to the tone and feel of the book.
Also love 'From Hell'. Johnny Depp. Heather Graham. Need I say more? Well, in case I do, it's some really good writing and mildly impressive film-making - all artsy and stuff, gritty and creepy and haunting and sad. Don't look for historical accuracy, but it's more alternative universe than it is anachronistic.
'THe 5th Element' - I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you've seen this, but if you haven't, you should. It rocks. It's like . . fairy tales in space.
'Kalifornia'. Has David Duchovny. Has the stupidest title ever. Ignore title. It's a very cool movie, in a very dark way.
'Flight of Dragons' - I'm not actually sure whether you can get this on DVD. It's a cartoon, from the 70s or 80s, not sure which - I saw it in the 80s. It's knights and dragons and quests and alternative universes and . . it's cool. Or maybe that's just 'cause it reminds me of being about eight.
Ooh! Someone else who's seen Flight of Dragons! I remember it most fondly for having dragons that looked *exactly* how I thought dragons should look. And James Earl Jones voicing the bad guy. I saw it again a few years ago - it's aged well, I think.
(I later discovered it was a bizarre mix of 'The Flight of Dragons' by Peter Dickinson (a sort of scientific look at dragon myths to figure out what a dragon's life cycle, biology etc could be) and plot elements from 'The Dragon and the George' by Gordon R Dickson. Kinda weird.)

I'm a big
geekfan of directors commentaries, so that's always an added bonus for me. Any suggestions on that front?no subject
