Note to self: Food is necessary at least twice a day. Dizziness is bad.

I started working on Inevitable 70 today... and got about three lines in and then was all, "So... what's happening again?" and I had to go reread twenty chapters, then I started working on the Inevitable soundtrack, which I can't post until the end of the story because it's got spoilers for how it all ends. But:

REQUEST: Does anyone have any idea of a song I can use for Bellatrix's theme, and for the Lupanar scene when Harry doesn't turn into a werewolf (with the thoughts of both loss and hope)?

An Anita Blake drabble

Word Count: 200
Characters: Anita, Nathaniel

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The music thumping in the club felt like a second heartbeat in my chest. It was numbing and hard and strange. Why had I let Nathaniel convince me to come to Danse Macabre on his night off?
I’d put my foot down when Nathaniel asked me to dance. I'd sent him out onto the dance floor on his own. After I'd been propositioned by five men and one woman, I climbed the stairs to the balcony.
It took me a minute to spot Nathaniel. He moved in time with the music, doing nothing overtly sexual, but watching him writhe, sweat glistening on his bare arms, the flash of his silver necklace... My skin felt too hot, too alone. It wasn't the ardeur that made me ache. It was him, amid the heartbeat of the music.
He looked up, eyes meeting mine. I knew he felt it too, this wanting. This was why he wanted me to come tonight, to feel the music and the need for more.
Nathaniel climbed the stairs, coming for me, wanting me to hold him down and hurt him just a little bit more.
I closed my eyes, and let the music flow over my skin.
Ohh a soundtrack, sounds like fun. I'm not sure if it would fit, but I thought about the Evanescence song 'Going Under' for the Bellatrix scene.
What's really funny is that I made a conscious decision to have an Evanescence-free soundtrack. Not because of anything bad to do with the band, just because otherwise I'd be able to make a one-band soundtrack and that's no fun :)
But yes, that's a nutty song to match a nicely nutty woman. I'm planning to use another song for Anita's recovery, but I need something violent and hard for the Bellatrix side of things. Why? Because Bella's not the most stable cookie in the box.
I'm always partial to soundtrack-y soundtracks, so what about "Shelob's Lair" from the LotR: RotK soundtrack? Good freaky strings and everything.
If that's too hugemongous... uh... hmm, I got nothing. Maybe I'll think of something.
Hmmm. What about 'She's a Rebel' by Green Day. That's a bit more hard.
For Bellatrix's song, I can't help thinking of songs that are dark and painful and slightly psychotic - like Bauhaus' "Exquisite Corpse" or "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything" (that one came to me because of the first two lines, "All we ever wanted was everything. All we ever got was cold.") Another song that pops to mind is Hole's "Gutless".
For the Lupanar scene REM's "Try Not to Breathe" seems particularly apt to me. ("I will try not to burden you/ I can hold these inside. I will hold my breath/ Until all these shivers subside/ Just look in my eyes/ I will try not to worry you/ I have seen things that you will never see/ Leave it to memory me. I shudder to breathe.")
In all randomness I'd go with Nasty Girl by Destiny's Child goddess knows why though.
Much as Anita acts the bitch and keeps everybody obedient, her boys have their own power over her. Nathaniel especially... He does it more subtly, but it's there, especially in this drabble. Very nice.
As for Bella... Honestly the very first song that comes to mind and isn't in a language other than English would have to be Rob Zombie's Living Dead Girl. It's aggressive and the lyrics are crazy and dark. It reminds me a lot of Bellatrix. I can't think of anything for Harry though...
Maybe something like "Time Stands Still" or "Welcome to Dying" by Blind Gaurdian. or "Blood on my Hands" by Demons and Wizards. For when Harry stuns Bellatrix "The Final Sacrifice" from Avantasia Part 1 maybe.
Slap me if they're a bit outlandish, but it's what's on my Playlist at the moment.
Very nice drabble.
Maybe for Bellatrix N.W.O by Ministry and for Harry Darkness Darkness by Solas?
Personally I find the band Interpol to have a very appropriate tone, the song A Time To Be So Small would fit perfectly in the scene you described. Check it out. Other songs that could fit in places could be the Acoustic Version of Terrible Lie (NIN), or the Johhny Cash version of Hurt...but if you think thats too cliched:)
Check out One by Aimee Mann for the Magnolia soundtrack. Kinda literal if your going for the link between being a werewolf means being a member of a family. The song Godheads lament by Opeth is particularly shocking in its death metal style and lyrical content is particularly gothic and inclusive of imagery. Have you heard the Bealtes song Goobye in a while, please check it out.
I not sure if this'll help but you can go to pandora.com and for example enter evanesences song Going Under and pandora will find songs similiar to that in sound.
Throwing some song suggestions into the ring, most of which are doubtless quite unsuited for what you want...
Bella: Death on Two Legs (Queen); Strange Brew (Cream); What You Waiting For? (Gwen Stefani) - for the feel of the song rather than the actual lyrics; and though the tune isn't that fitting, The Curse of Millhaven (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), just because of the crazyhorrible murderin' she gets up to.
Harry/the Lupanar: Learn to Be Still (The Eagles); Tears in Heaven (Clapton); Mad World (er...whoeveritis); Hallelujah (Rufus Wainwright cover); Wonderwall (Oasis).
Seconding the Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt" recommendation.
Showing my age here, but you can't go wrong with "Personal Jesus" and/or "Blasphemous Rumours" by Depeche Mode. You should also consider "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues" by Skip James; that one can be made to fit a variety of situations. ("Louis Collins" by Mississippi John Hurt is in that same category.)
Hmm
