Help. Buried in words. Am in the process of reading Inevitable (yes, that's right. All 500,000+ words) so I can actually write it tomorrow. In the meantime, a quasi drabble from Inevitable. Just some fluff :)

practical_puss Inevitable, Hermione, corset.
Note: Set just before Inevitable chapter 71 and the Halloween party.

Hermione looked up from her reading as Crookshanks tore across her bed, narrowly avoiding the impact of flying fabric.
"I have nothing to wear!" Lavender wailed. "The dance starts in less than two hours and I have nothing!
Parvati nodded sympathetically. Neither girl noticed as Hermione rolled her eyes at them. "I can go get Padma to help," Parvati offered.
Lavender shook her head. "This is the only dance we're going to have this year! We're seventh-years, we have to look our best! And all my clothes make me look like a shapeless sack!"
Parvati turned away from her mirror. "We could make you a toga," she suggested. "A Greek witch?"
"That's what she is wearing," Lavender objected, jerking her thumb over her shoulder to point at Hermione.
"She is sitting right here!" Hermione objected loudly, but she was roundly ignored by the other girls.
"And I can't be any other kind of historical witch, that's what Ginny and that blonde of hers are doing!"
Parvati's eyebrows arched. "Matching costumes?" she asked. "How... interesting."
The level of innuendo in Parvati's voice was answered by the expression on Lavender's face. "I wonder what Harry will think of that?" she mused.
Hermione slapped her book closed. As much as she may wonder at Harry's choices when it came to Luna and Ginny (as much as she may think the whole thing was a Very Bad Idea), that didn't give Lavender and Parvati the right to say those things about her friends!
"Ooh, I've got an idea!" Parvati squealed, dropping the gossip for the more pressing matter of clothing. "What about one of those corset dress things we saw in those books in muggle studies? You can be a turn-of-the-century witch!"
Hermione gathered up her books and fled the room. Some days, she couldn't believe that she was in the same year as Parvati and Lavender.
Although, she thought rather unkindly, if Lavender ended up wearing a corset for Halloween, she'd suffer enough on her own.
