Okay, NCIS totally faked me out this week.

When they introduced the new kid (Agent Wilson Hawtie), and he was all awesome, I thought "Okay, he's going to die horribly."

And time passes and he's even hawter than before because he's all like noble and smart and stuff, and I'm like "Okay, he's going to die horribly saving puppies and children with cancer."

And they're at the graveyard and Agent Hawtie is shielding a little old lady with his feeble body! and I'm like "OMG he's gonna die protecting the innocent 4RLZ!"

Yet.

He doesn't die. In fact, he comes out on top.

So I end the episode thinking "Why didn't you kill off my new favorite character, NCIS?"

And then I realize that the NCIS writers have won.

Thanks, NCIS writers.

PS Bring back the hottie.

LOL, I agree with you, the NCIS writers are made of win. My favourite part was when Tony was talking with Agent Hawtie (cause I can't remember his proper name anymore) about why he joined NCIS. Agent Hawtie talks about fighting for justice and when he asks Tony why he joined, Tony says "chicks and guns"
I hope they bring him back too.

*raises hand*

me too.

I kept waiting for the Probie to drop and in the end... off he goes to FLETC.

I have this theory that he was to show what Gibbs would have been like prior to Shannon's death. And I loved (even though I hate the way Vance said it) the comparison between Tony / McGee and Gibbs / Vance in regards to the quality of new guy. I think new guy would be a perfect slightly toned-down-Tony for Tony to have on his team when/if Gibbs ever really retires. Of course, Vance probably needs to be out of the director's office before Tony would ever get a team lead offer from him.

I liked the new guy. I wouldn't mind him showing up again after he gets all trained and certified.

I also like how Tony avoided, yet again, the reason he's at NCIS. He did it when Kate asked. He did it when this guy asked. Tony's all about avoidance.

And Gibbs' gut was doing backflips or something at the end in regards to the Langer/Lee issues... I think the gut was going for the perfect 10 in gymnastics...

I kept waiting for a stray bullet to clip Agent Hawtie in the graveyard too. We've been conditioned that the red shirts must die. Glad he didn't. Also glad to see the Gibbs' gut back in top form

I'm glad I'm not the only one that painted Agent Hawtie as a red shirt. Glad he didn't die though, so he can come back and brighten up the screen.

That was a good use of Agent Hawtie -- loved the way it all convinced Gibbs to trust his own judgment again. Hawtie's death would not have served that, it would have been cheap emotional manipulation on the part of the writers to have sunk to that, so yeah, I was surprised they didn't go there, too. I really do think the writers are having their best season yet. I find I'm enjoying NCIS even more than I have in the past, and I've always loved the show.

Sounds like he's going to turn out to be the Big Bad of the season (or a Marty-Stu, of course.)

Oh, he was a total Marty-Stu. Former marine, intelligent, in the end beloved by all. Sort of okay for one episode as a character foil for the main lead, and nice enough to look at but probably boring as a continuing character.

It was really good. I like how Ducky used the profile to kick Gibbs' butt on doubting himself.

I'm enjoying NCIS too -- there were a few eps that made me go "eh" but the season opener, and then Murder 2.0, were omg amazing. I'm looking forward to next week because they *have* to deal with the Lee issue now.

I suspect that he was introduced early on, so if the show does have another season and they need to replace a character they have someone in the wings.

I think these things because I'm cynical.

I'm so glad Gibbs is back, too. I thought Ducky's sneaky way of kicking Gibbs back into shape via the profile was inspired. I love my crazy cop show.

That does make sense, although it's not if they have another season, it's in the next season.... But who would Agent Hawtie replace? He's the closet to DiNozzo in terms of his specialties, and I really don't want to see him leave. It just wouldn't be the same show.

It was a Joss Whedon moment. Joss is sneaky like that, total ninja episode. *nodnod* He takes over other fandoms even if you don't realize it. ;)

I agree with Marcus. He's probably going to turn out to be evil.
