Writing Rodney as a father was a bit of a journey to get to, but I figure that he's had a month, he can sort some things out. Especially when Rory is being so much like him.

I realized a few days ago that where this story is set (an AU of season four) that we saw as canon, the Rodney and Katie thing. Since there was no way for her to go back to earth (the siege thing) she was still there and might be seen at the Christmas party. Besides, it's a good way to have those two bond.

This chapter really is how Rory's parents are dealing - one is happy with a new kid, and the other is freaking out at not having the kid around. It's a story in extremes.
