It is true that he's a total spaz at human interaction. It is one of the reason's he got me through a very hard time in my life - he's such an island, but he can't let go, so it all gets messed up in the wash. God, I can't imagine what HE'S going through. That is a nice mountain you have to climb there.
A friend once asked me why, if I was tapped so easily into the tortured soul that is John Sheppard (I was picking apart season four at the time and it came easy because my soul was just as tortured as his) why I didn't write something causing even more torture in his life. I think you've hit the nail on the head why it never happened - I can come up with the idea in my head, but...putting in on paper and making it real is a whole different ball game.

The Lorne show would be awesome. It would be all snark, like Rodney, only without the whine and reluctant spine. And lots of great art for interior decorating. In general, the world needs more Lorne.
