Dear Agatha Christie: If a body hasn't been found for six months in the south of England during the summer, they're not going to identify it through a mole or scar KTHNX.

HP Drabble rec: Nothing by [livejournal.com profile] black_rose7. Why am I reccing it? Because it's Neville/Snape and it's awesome.

That's just... eeew!

Do you, by chance, know any good Buffy-Centric Crossovers with Anita Blake. Cuz I'm desperate and no-one can help me and life just sucks and...well. You know.

And...six whole months?

Well, yeah. But in an awesome way.

What kind of AB/BtVS are you looking for? TTH is really the only site that has that kind of thing. There's not a lot of good stuff out there.

It was a Miss Marple book. The whole thing was kinda strange.

TTH is already very very much plundered. Not to mention that most Buffy-centric Anita Blake stuff on there seems to be mine anyway. *pouts* I was hoping you knew some other place. Oh well, I'll just suffer in silence now.... *suffers very silently*

There's really a dearth of AB fic on the internet in general, which is too bad, because I want to read more, damn it. Of well. I'll just have to do my best to populate the fandom (er, with more fic, not little fangirls, sorry)

I think that the reason for the dearth is that LKH has similar views on fanfiction to Anne Rice (I just read this on another newly oppened fanfiction site's rules and regs) which is why ff.net no longer has a category for her stuff. Eeeeeeek!
I'm going to go looking for what she specifically says now.

What site is that? That's not what I've heard at all. She considers it a grey area, and doesn't like the thought of it, but she hasn't done anything to stop fanfic.

After much searching I found a direct quote from LKH on fanfiction. Her words are as following:

"Fanfiction does not exist. My understanding, legally, is that to keep my copy right completely intact, I must not allow anyone to use my characters for anything. I know the copy right should be protected as long as they don't try and make money from my world or characters, but I'm cautious by nature. I go with the advice of my lawyer has given on it. So if people are writing fanfic, enjoy yourselves, but don't tell me about it. Ever. And don't try and sell stories or books set in my world, with or without my characters. That's illegal."
Excerpt from text interview by Paula Guran for Metropole

So...I think you have it right. But the larger fanfiction archives like ff.net have bans on fanfiction based on her works. I also noted that there are at least two yahoo!groups dedicated to LKH fanfiction.

I highly recommend the interview article. It's hilarious. It describes LKH's Anita Blake as "'As the Casket Turns' meets 'Rambo'."

I had a bit long reply up here, but instead I decided it was time for a rant on the state of fanfic. I posted it in my journal :)

I've read some pretty good neville/snape before...and in some twisten demento world I can definitely see it happen

I guess that just shows that when written well you can pretty much convince me of anything, well, almost anything.

A twisted, demented, and severely fucked up world. One that I likes :) Yes, I'm strange like that.

In keeping with my habit of reading and replying in reverse chronological order to other people's posts...

1) Agatha was an, erm, interesting old bird.

2) That ficlet was an, erm, interesting little fic!

1 - i agree
2 - interesting is one word for it. Disturbing also springs to mind.
