Allow me to clarify my rabidness about the Anita Blake books:

They're books. I tend to focus on the positive and the things I like in them, as I dislike to the extreme the crap that comes off a lot of the AB forums on the Internet, but that doesn't mean I'm blind to the books faults. These days, all that I read goes through the "Anita Blake fanfic" filter, so it's likely I'm looking at the books in a different way than you lot.

So here it is: As opposed to the normal sunshine and cheer that goes around here, take the opportunity to nitpick, to say what you don't like about the Anita Blake books/characters/cover art etc. Thing is, if you say you don't like something, you need to say why.

Also, feel free to comment anonymously.

ETA PS: There are now spoilers for Micah and the Danse Macabre teaser in this thread. FYI KTHNX.

The cover art (for the British books at least) really, really pisses me off. For one thing, I swear there are a dozen descriptions in the books that mention Antia having curly hair (or have I just completely lost the plot), she's wearing a tank top and some kind of weird belted holster, not her shoulder holster at all... then there's the fact that she's wearing a short skirt and boots, which while it does happen is hardly 'normal Anita-style'. Then there's the odd cross that she's holding, it's got to be a good 1'6" long and I'm sure nothing like that is mentioned, ever. And then we get to thinking that she's standing so that we see her left arm, no sleeves remember, and there's NO scars. Not one. Now correct me if I'm going crazy, but Anita has scars on her left arm, lots of scars. ~headdesk~

Uh, yeah. That's me ranted out. I think ~g~

Huh. Yeah, I see what you mean. All the books I've got (I only started reading like a year ago) are the newer US paperback covers.

A good comparison on covers can be seen on LKH's site. For example, for CotD:
http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/Anita/CircusOfTheDamned.htm

I like the newer covers a lot more.

I like the newer covers better of those two, but still. Those are the ones that I don't like, there's just something about them that's just off

I like the covers that are in this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1841491349/qid=1142437645/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl/202-4564631-4370239) theme. Honestly, I've only ever seen the other covers on the Internet and I don't think I'd dare bring those sort of covers home. My brother would torment me forever for reading kinky romance novels.
