Fic news: Meh. Balancing Act part Three will be out soon. Then Magnolia, but maybe that'll happen after X3 comes out (seeing as how it's set after the first movie and nothing will change). And in this time also comes Promises part II. Also, I realized the other day that the next Anita Blake book comes out soon (like, end of June, right?) so I now have an official deadline for Inevitable!

That's a lot of writing.

So, here, have some fan vid recs! Three is a nice round, er, odd number.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Brothers and Sisters by [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24.

This vid focuses on Glory and Ben. I'll be honest, in seasons five of BtVS, I didn't really care too much about Ben, but this vid puts the focus on him and what he's going through. It makes me actually give a damn about the raw deal he got.

Firefly: Must Be Dreaming by [livejournal.com profile] corn_child013 (first vid on the Firefly page)

This is a very fast-paced Serenity vid, River-centric. The main gist is this: Is what River is experiencing real? Is it a dream? How can she know? The cuts between scenes are so fast, but in a clear way, that the viewer cannot know. River's emotions, her fragile mental state, carry across well. I love it (and the end was excellent in nine thousand ways).

Harry Potter: The Boy Was A Puppet by [livejournal.com profile] wistful_fever

This vid sums up all that Harry is going through, all he's been forced to endure as a puppet of those around him (Dumbledore, Voldemort, the Ministry). It puts a very stark face on what Harry is going through.

Go download them!

Haven't checked out the others yet, but watched 'Must Be Dreaming' as per your suggestions .. and gah! The sequence where she's fighting the Reavers and the cuts and the interspersing of her dancing and .. gah!! So awesome!! (Damn it, I need to SLEEP tonight, not watch this 837 times!)

Yeah, that end sequence is chilling and awesome and totally indictive of River's disconnect with reality. I loves it so.

Thanks for providing the link... I loved the series and Serenity and this just had really made my day. I appreciate the work that went into editing this. The images are syncronized beautifully with the music. I'm really in awe. Plus, the music is so kickass!

Egad!

You're right!!! Danse Macabre is out on Jun 27th..... 0_0;

The uniquely complicated life of Anita Blake, the St. Louis–based necromancer, gets even more complicated when Anita discovers she may be pregnant in the 14th novel in bestseller Hamilton's vampire hunter series (Micah, etc.). Her sexual magic powers require multiple lovers, so there are six potential fathers. One possible dad, werewolf Richard, has trouble understanding that, baby or not, Anita's still a federal marshal who raises the dead and executes vampires. In addition, terrifying, life-threatening obstetrical challenges are involved, since the maybe-mommy has to deal with vampirism and several strains of lycanthropy coursing through her veins. That Anita has no detecting to do may disappoint some fans, but playing hostess to a gathering of North American vampire Masters of the City, ostensibly in town for a performance by a vampiric ballet troupe, keeps her plenty busy. When the vampire ballet takes the stage toward the end, several new plot elements emerge. The very lack of a finale suggests that there's no end in sight for this fabulously imagined series.

Thick stuff.... I hope you can finish prior to then! I'll tell you something that's a little crazy, I'm actually beginning to like your style of writing better than LKH...but then again that could be stemmed from the extreme disappointment that was Micah....

After checking out Amazon, I realized how much negativity there is for LKH's new writings, mostly the sex scenes. I agree that they are a bit much, but nothing a die hard fan can't handle. There are so many angry people out there and they never do a darn thing about it.

Oh yeah. That's the reason I don't visit any of the boards or LJ communites; I have no need for that sort of negativity in my head. My creedo is if you truly don't like something, stop reading/listening/doing it. I mean, life's too short to be unhappy, right?

Right! Yeah, the blurb was from Amazon, so I trust it. It's doesn't seem like it will be that exciting, but at least this will mean more JC and lots and lots and lots of vampire politics...ooo those are fun ^_^

Is that the blurb off Amazon?

That Anita has no detecting to do
*bummed* I like it when Anita has police work to do.

I think I can finish it by then, it's over a month, so that means I have to really putting Inevitable on the front burner. We'll see how it goes :D

I am so very, very happy to hear that. (There, that didn't sound too madly fangirl-ish, right?) As they say in EMPIRE: I approve of this sort of thing, and wish to encourage it. :)

Danse Macabre starts a storyline that will be continued in the next novel, and it includes Edward, mystery and police work.

From LKH blog (Monday 22)

Earlier today I was getting tired, and still hadn't been to work. So I thought I'm either going to have to have a nap, or try to exercise. I chose the exercise. I did the treadmill, and felt better afterwards. It helped me get to my desk and back to work on the next Anita book. Like I said, 22 pages today. Even I was impressed with that after a break of five days, and at a convention on top of that. Usually that throws me for awhile. But the book is ready to go, and I think part of it is that I knew I was close to Edward's introduction in this book. I'll have to go back and do some small changes to the pages I wrote today. Small metaphysical choreography changes, then I get to get the chapters I cut from DANSE MACABRE and put them in. The chapters where I actually had Anita call Edward for help. Edward tomorrow, finally, on paper.

From her blog, today:

Twenty-nine pages. Even I'm impressed. Admittedly a goodly portion of those pages were already written, just a matter of editing and smoothing the edges since they were lifted from DANSE MACABRE. But this is where they belong, this book. Two chapters about Edward, and they fit nice and snug. Cool. I think Richard will be introduced in the next chapter. I've made some notes, and if they work, he will end up surprising Anita and me in a good way. Cool, again.

Yeah, I read that... I'm sure I'll enjoy DM, but I also really like Anita's police work. Oh well. I'll just have to write some of my own.

I'm glad we're going to see more Edward, though. But is this the next AB book, or the next novella (like Micah)? It looks like the next full-length book.

From: [identity profile] ligeia-bm.livejournal.com
It's the new full-length book. The novellite (Micah-style) was something different, but she said that now she wasn't sure she'd be able to finish that one.

From her blog again:

Feeling some better today. I've never had a book get to ninety pages then just stop, and tell me this isn't working. I think the plot will get used down the road, but there's something about the weretiger stuff that needs to be touched upon in the next as yet unnamed Anita novel. I've learned not to argue with my subconscious, I usually regret it later. But it still feels like wasted effort. I now have an almost equal page count for both books, how weird is that?

So, they are two separate books, both including Edward though.
