3,187 words of Inevitable 69 are written, and while I'm not sure how much of this I'll end up keeping, it's still coming along.

But the point of this post is something different. It's a crossover fic rec for my fave new fandom, Stargate Atlantis, along with Stargate SG1 and Supernatural. It's a one-shot AU fic by [livejournal.com profile] laniew1:

Journey's End
by Melanie/[livejournal.com profile] laniew1
Summary: Dean was ten when he realized that his father viewed him and Sammy differently.
Rating: R for language
No pairings, but some slashy subtext.

Oh, I love new fandoms! Anyone know when season 2 of Atlantis comes out in Canada?

no idea hon. what's your pairing for sga?

I haven't developed any pairings yet. I think I need to watch season 2 to get more ideas of the characters.

As for characters, I'm really liking them all so far. If I had to pick five, I'd pick Dr. Beckett, Zelencko, Teyla and Sheppherd and McKay. They're just all so shiny.

lol yeah I so agree. umm hon...it's Zelenka. *bg* I love my SGA! and by my icon I'm sure you can see my pairing. *g* err in season 2 there is a new girl named Laura Cadman..she rocks! err maybe you could download season 2?

Hehe, Cadman... she's great. Didn't know she had a first name.

On that note, why doesn't Canada get it the same time as the US? It's filmed there, after all.

Not sure when Canada gets it, but I don't have cable.

Hey, if McKay can't remember his name, I don't have to :P

Do you know where I could download episodes?

Not that I would ::cough:: ever condone downloading episodes ::cough:: but I'm a big believer in bit torrent. Mininova.org is good for finding the torrent files.

TBTB can be, on occassion, complete prats. The US will have the first release date for the complete S2 DVD box set. If we go by last year's dates it will be around November with the rest of the world following around Feb! Thank God for multizone DVD players and Amazon.com delivering internationally.

SGA has to be one of the most enertaining fandoms out there. It is chock full of incredibly talented writers who are equally capable of writing fabulous crack as they are of writing long thought provoking fic. If you are staying ship free at the moment then [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine is well worth reading. If you ever decide to follow the slashy McShep subtext, let me know I have oodles of fic bookmarked.

OMG I can't believe I almost forgot Martha! [livejournal.com profile] ltlj is incredible. While she does write some slash she has an entire gen series (Retrograde) that left the fandom gasping. Her 'officially sanctioned' SGA novel, Reliquary made me want to petition the show to have her added to their writing team.

Martha is in an incredibly talented writer. Been reading her fic since 1998 - have you read When Hellmouths Collide? Wow-worthy, completely.

I highly recommend anything she writes and I was so excited that she got published and all official and everything! :)

I read Martha's series. Rather, I started to read the first bit of her Retrograde series and it ATE BY BRAIN. I love it so hard. Then there was the little follow-ups, and "Vegas" has me swooning. It's quite possibley the best fanfic I have ever read. It's got plot, characterization....

It just occured to me that I don't need to sell you on it :)

Now I have to go find a copy of Reliquary somewhere.

I'm not staying ship-free any longer. It's just hard to get into some slash pairings in general... but I swoon for well-written McShep these days.

I may have to take you up on that fic rec idea :)

I have to say that the Retrograde series as a whole has to be the best piece of fanfic I have read in any fandom. Martha just *nails* the characterisation not only of a SGA that has been cut off for several years, but the SGC characters as well. Oh and I'm right there swooning with you while reading Vegas.

As to McShep (Yes! Adds you to my list of coverts. Just three more conversions and I get a special button and a set of steak knives) you can't go wrong with [livejournal.com profile] seperis , [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn, [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock and [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn Pru's "Lady Night at the Boom Boom Room" is one of the funniest AU's out there, while her "He's Having His Baby" is crack!fic at the finest. Everytime I read this story I end up gasping and sliding off my computer chair from laughing so hard.

Oh god, the wine I'm drinking is rotting my brain. Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose (http://www.kekkai.org/synecdochic/sga/freedoms_just_another_word.html) grabbed the fandom by the heart and made us cry, and then rec the story like I've never seen a fic rec'd before. It's what most fanfic wants to be when they grow up.

On a more light-hearted note. There is a major series called 'Ripples in the Space Between' by  [livejournal.com profile] miriel that sucks you right in. It's a lot more light hearted than the Retrograde series. I read it for the fluffy goodness and the fact that it includes pretty much all of my guilty pleasure pairings.

Or hey, I could just point you in the direction of my fav recs pages and stop filling up your lj with my sekrit mission to convert the masses.

Thank you for the rec. I'm really enjoying Supernatural crossovers and this is a great find.

Sent you an email (from your user info) where you can find season 2. Hope you enjoy!

I don't know, but when it does you have to watch "Duet." It is one of the best. Great McKay moments.
