More Supernatural crossover love. I tried writing Inevitable but the prose sucked. I'm out of practice :(...
Hunter, Prey
A Supernatural/Gilmore Girls crossover ficlette
by
mhalachaiswords
Summary: Dean Forrester can't figure out why people keep trying to kill him. Or why they're calling him Sam.
Disclaimer: Supernatural belongs to the CW and Kripke. Gilmore Girls belong to the CW and whoever took over after Amy Sherman-Palladino left. No profit has been made from this fic.
Pairings etc.: Gen/No pairings, crossover, Dean Forrester (as portrayed by our beloved Jared Padelecki) is the only on-screen character.
Rating: PG
Words: 440
Spoilers: Spoilers for Supernatural episode 2x10, "Hunted", and for 2x12, "Nightwalker" (Jan. 25th's show). None for Gilmore Girls.
Note: This is an idea that occurred to me at the end of Hunted, a "what if" Dean Forrester got caught up in the mess Sam Winchester finds himself in. Nightwalker just sweetened the pot.
Distribution:
sn_crossovers,
gg_fic.
~~~~~~
Dean Forrester's dodged three bullets this week. He can't figure out what's going on, but he can't stop running long enough to find out.
It started in March. He was working a job in Boston, nothing unusual, when he noticed some guy hanging around the work site. Not the normal looking for work kind of guy, but the guy was looking for something. Someone.
Dean was putting his tools in his truck after the shift was over, the only one left on site, when the guy came back, leaned against the side of Dean's truck, and said, "How's it going, Sammy?"
Closing the tailgate, Dean tried to figure out what was going on. He tried to figure out what was going on right up until the man pulled out a gun and fired several bullets at Dean's head.
Dean hasn't stopped running since. There's more than one of them, looking like normal people right up until they try to kill him. Men, usually, scruffy-looking and dangerous, but not always. Sometimes it's women. Sometimes clean like doctors and soccer moms. And they're all looking at him like he's the one who's dangerous.
He wonders if he can trust anyone. He can't go home, can't call any of his friends. They might be in on it. Maybe he's going crazy. Maybe he is crazy and no one's trying to kill him at all.
Right. Tell that to the knife scars on his back, from that guy in Tucson who got up close and personal with him.
At least they're not after his family. Dean chanced a call home, talked to Clara, who said that the freaking FBI had been there looking for him, asking Mom and Dad how long they'd known Dean, if they were sure he was their son, and if they knew a man named Sam Winchester who looked just like Dean. Dean would have asked his little sister if she knew what the hell was going on, but then the bullet came through the glass of the phone booth and he dropped the phone and ran.
He can't go home. He doesn't know why the FBI are after him, why he's being hunted by crazy people with guns and knives, screaming at him about demons and evil.
He doesn't know what's going on, but he's going to figure it out. He has to.
The first thing he figures he has to do is find this Sam Winchester guy. All he knows is that the FBI are after him, and what he looks like. It's not much, but it's going to have to be enough.
It's all he has.
