So, this is how I think tonight's episode of Gilmore Girls should have gone:
With MASSIVE spoilers for GG 7.21 'Unto the Breach'
Before the party
LOGAN: Rory, before we go in there, I have something to say: I want to ask you to marry me.
RORY: The huh?
LOGAN: I love you, and want to be with you. I want you to know that.
RORY: I do know that...
LOGAN: Then think about it. After the party we'll talk about it, and what we can do to make it work. After all, I have a great job offer in California, and you may end up working anywhere, so we need to be realistic about all this. Love may be a lot, but it don't pay the bills.
RORY: It can if you get the right agent.
LOGAN: You worry me sometimes.
RORY: Thanks. Logan, I love you.
LOGAN: And I love you, Ace.
*kisses*
Later, before Rory's grad
RORY: I'm glad we've spent the last few days talking about getting married, Logan, but I don't think I'm ready at this point. My career (assuming I don't end up jobless and living in my mom's place) may take me anywhere, and it wouldn't be fair of me to not acknowledge that, or to hold you back in any way from your own dreams. I do love you, and that hasn't changed.
LOGAN: I'm disappointed, but I understand your reasoning. I love you too, with all my heart, and because of that, I think we should stick together. We can do long distance.
RORY: We've done it before.
LOGAN: And then, maybe someday when we're both famous, we can talk rings again.
RORY: You're the most amazing man in the universe.
LOGAN: Well, I do have abs of steel.
RORY: We're going to take the world by storm, Hunzberger!
LOGAN: Go get that diploma, Ace. You've earned it.
RORY: *twu wuv*
LOGAN: *twu wuv*
TV AUDIENCE: *ded from kute*
Of course, this would have needed the characters to be WHOLE DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Like, seriously. Has Logan never even met Rory? And that all or nothing bullshit. Gah.
Yes, I know it's a tv show/soap opera. But I can still wish for a little more realism in my pop culture.

Date: 2007-05-09 05:32 am (UTC)I'm glad the show's almost over. Then I can watch my season 1 DVDs again and forget about the last 3 seasons for ever and ever.

Date: 2007-05-09 06:51 am (UTC)So Logan can traipse all over for a year, pursuing this dream or that one--but the moment Rory graduates she's supposed to settle down with him immediately, regardless of whether she's interested/able to get a job she wants there. And "my way or the highway?"
Just more fodder for my theory that with rare exceptions, shows have a natural life span of three-five seasons.

I like that theory. I can think of many shows that I wish had died after three years.

Date: 2007-05-09 03:51 pm (UTC)You might guess she's a little wigged at this point.
Then, after her graduation ceremony, Logan presses her on it, then he says he loves her SO MUCH and that unless she marries him, he's dumping her ass on her graduation day.
So not making this up.
So she still has to say no, and he walks away without looking back.
And I started yelling at the telly.

Date: 2007-05-09 03:46 pm (UTC)I don't care if she's a Gilmore, she wasn't raised to be in Logan's league.
Hell yas. It's easy to forget that Rory was raised hand-to-mouth for many years by a single mother. Logan was raised to expect the kind of life he has, and also to expect that when he asked a girl to marry him, she'd say yes and jump at it.
Let me know when you see those last two eps of season five, then we'll talk about how Mitchell Hunzberger had a crystal ball and could see two seasons ahead on this show.

Reeeeally off topic, but I need a little *squeezes finger and thumb together* help. You know that Michelle Trachtenberg icon you have for 'Dawning Light'? Do you have a link or something to the larger image of it? I lost mine...
O.O

Date: 2007-05-10 12:00 am (UTC)I like the Logan character, I think they could have done amazing stuff with Logan and Rory and the people of Stars Hollow...or Finn meeting Lorelai...The Character of Logan could have been the perfect foil for Rory Gilmore, but nope, got crap instead.
Is it wrong that I like the Rory and Logan Fanfic instead? I would rather read than watch, it's much more interesting and "believable", amazing as it is, then the show....sorry you just got the spill over of the rant I was expressing to my friend.

Date: 2007-07-17 08:51 pm (UTC)Nuh-uh. That boy is coming back. He loves Rory and he knows that Gilmore Girls heal and move on faster than a fast thing. I believe his pride is what's suffered the most. He asked Lorelai for permission, he asked Rory in front of people who'd immediately tell his father - and you bet there was a father/son conversation behind scenes. Probably along the lines of Mitchum: 'Do you really think a girl like Rory would stick with you? Logan: 'Of course. She loves me. Don't worry, you'll get an invite, Dad.'
And when Rory didn't accept the proposal, well... I guess old 'Be Hurt Now, Think Later' Logan came to the fore and snapped. No, there's no way he isn't calling her within the next month.
So, yes. I'm taking my denial and feeding my muse with it.
