I know I'm late to the party on this, but I've finally caught up to the Bones season 3 finale.

I have this to say: What? Huh?

I'm deeply confused. Zack's the serial killer out of left field? Stupid. I could write better story climaxes. In fact, I have dun.

I will say this - the whole cast seemed to exude a certain amount of whatthefuckery in the season finale. I'm going to miss Zack beyond measure. He was adorable and awkward and acted so well. How likely is it that Bones will wake up next season to find Bobby Ewing in the shower that Gorgomon is still out there and Zack is a nice boy still working in the lab. Srs.

Other things about Bones thus far: Angela and Hodgins are adorable. Bones and Booth are hot. I may be in the minority, but I love Sweets. And Cam=the hawt.

In any event, I'm planning a small crossover to fix the mess they made of Zack's character, because that's how I fix everything. It involves Jack Harkness, because everything involves Jack Harkness. Jack will make it allll better. Soon.

Back to rewatching Bones. I love this show, minus that last ep.

Also, I have Photoshop again and can make icons. This is one ;P

Why Zach? It makes no sense. He doesn't like killing bugs!

I thought that the last episode was awesome. I'm not happy that Zack is leaving, no; but I did like the fact that the ep was very surprising and plausible to me.

Could it have been better? Probably. I'm looking forward to reading your twist upon it. However, I'm very pleased by it. Delighted even.
(Not to mention that that whole cannibalistic crime subplot was going on for far too long.... )

I agree. The ending made no sense at all. I still think that Sweet was supposed to be the killer but the producers deided that they liked that actor better.

I haven't seen it yet (it airs here tomorrow night), but know what happened. I had my WTF moment, and then thought about it and decided it actually made some sense, at least from the making of the show point of view etc.

1) Once Zach graduated, he was, in a way, superfluous. They already had Bones, and Zach's job position was pretty similar. As far as the show goes, that means his character is no longer there for Bones to explain things to the viewer, like he was when he was learning.

2) Given his lack of social skills etc etc, once he was no longer Bones' student, he was set adrift in the world, sent overseas into a warzone, didn't do too well over there, and when he came back he was a lost little lamb. It does make a certain kind of sense that he would latch onto the Gormagon like that, because he needs some kind of mentor.

3) Sweets kind of replaces Zach character-wise for the cute, light relief. He also makes sense in that he brings the psychoanalysis to the team, something that they haven't had previously beyond a few eps with Stephen Fry. From a making the show and the dynamics of it, he makes far more sense now than Zach does, especially with his ability to be geeky, BUT also have the tenacity to stand up to both Bones and Booth, and allow for some nice verbal exchanges between them. I thought Sweets was the killer, until the episode with his girlfriend and the fish. At that point I decided they were putting far too much effort into giving his character a background to toss him at the end of the season. This said, they could have replaced Zach with Sweets just as easily by having Zach get a job elsewhere.

So for me, it doesn't actually seem plucked out of the air, I can see they've been laying down the seeds since the start of the season, though I'm all sad that Zach is going. Waaaaaah. *sniffles* I think they might have been able to make it more convincing if they'd had a couple more episodes to play with, but the Writers' Strike buggered that up. But yeah, I have to give them credit for pulling a twist that no one expected. That gets more and more difficult in TV these days.

Yeah, I'm still having problems with the finale. I mean, if they wanted to write Zach out of the show there are much more convincing avenues. Him suddenly being a serial killer in training doesn't make sense.

A Torchwood/Bones story? I can't wait (Jack Harkness can make everything better!).

I would dearly love to see Jack fix this disaster.

I can see why they would write the character out for storyline reasons, but seriously? Very poorly done. I love Sweets, too, actually. I think his character adds a lot to the show dynamic, but I don't think it was respectful to Zach's character or Eric Millegan's acting to write him out in that manner. STupid, and poorly done. Send him back to Iraq if you must get rid of him, but this was dreadfully written. Sloppy.

I could have bought the story if the arc had been there all season, ie with more hints and all that, but it just came out of nowhere. If you're going to make one of your main characters a serial killer's apprentice, at least devote more than an hour to it.

However, I will say that if one accepts the weirdness of the story, there were certain points of acting that just shone in the ep -- when Hodgins was pushing Zack's pain button to get him to stop talking, because he'd already figured it out but was trying to protect Zack from himself; and the look on Cam's face when she saw Booth and Bones in the hospital room and realized that it was Zack. I love this cast so much.

LOL I saw this and was like OMG they're gonna do that thing like that stupid show that had the snow globe ending. Do you know what I'm taking about? And we'll find out all this was a dream made by an autistic kid.

CHEERS!!! I LOVE JACK!!!!...No actually I love Hart more lol :P

St. Elsewhere. Tommy was the boy. Yep, I never got over that either.

And every once in a while, I feel a little eerie that I picked out the name Thomas (called Tommy by Granny and other) for my boy that was born autistic.

Glad someone agrees with me about the Zack thing. I think Sweets speech in the trail episode a about hyper rational minds was supposed to be for shadowing but that doesn't change the fact that for the seriel killer thing to be true it would need to be pod Zack or something.

Love the icon! And right there with you about the out-of-left-field-ness of Zach's murderous tendencies. Love the show, but not that episode (for all the fun of Booth and Bones, Angela and Hodgins, and yes, I even liked Sweets in every episode but this one, where he seems to go out of his way to act like a professional-ethics-free jerk).

Glad you're planning to fix it!

The thing that drives me crazy about Zack being the killer is the fact that in one of the episodes from the first season. During the security review of the members of the team, the Homeland Security agent outright asks Zack, what he would do if someone came up to him and gave him an extremely logical argument for doing something that goes against national security. Zack replies he would ask Dr. Brennen, what to do and then Hogdens and Angela and Booth. This is directly contradictory to that! So annoying.

I know! Zack has always looked to Brennan and/or Hodgins for advice in all areas of what he does. The last ep felt rather OOC.

I massivily hated the final episode. I think thekiller was supposed to be Sweet, but the producers liked that actor better. That is the only answer I can come up with. I agree, I like Sweets too, but I really hate what they did with Zack.

OMG. I know I was devistated when they said zack was gormagon's assistant. Also Booth nearly dying. WTF? I almost boycotted the entire episode.

Oh well i heard the new season is going to have an ep in london, england? maybe that will me feel less ick about the whole thing

I know. I had been spoiled before I watched the ep, and thought that maybe they could pull it off if it was well-written. Which is was not. I haven't been so annoyed at an episode of tv in a long time.

I hear that the season opener is set in London, but I've learned my lesson. I'm hiding from spoilers this time around.
