The Inevitable drama

I'm just re-reading the last 10 chapters of Inevitable... why didn't anyone tell me how over the top the drama is?? I mean, it's no more than a Harry Potter or Anita Blake book, but OMG I get exhausted for Harry and Anita just reading this stuff.
Anyway: Question Time
Feel free to ask me any question at all on any of my fics, including Inevitable. I'll pre-empt the one I expect by saying: Yes, I am going to finish the story. There won't be any spoilers, promise. Anything you want to know? Ask it now!

Anita: Of course, because that's so like me.
Harry: Right on, old girl.
Jason: *head explode*)
It's just that being away from it so long, I go back and jump into chapter 70 and everything is a mess. Poor Harry. I should just finish this story and put him out of his misery. Um, metaphorically speaking.
Inevitable question

It's rather like a greek tragedy...

Date: 2008-10-30 03:58 am (UTC)traumadrama never lets up. Starting at chapter one, you get a sense of how things will go (badly) but at least the tone remains. By jumping in at chapter 65, especially after recently writing a lot of NCIS and that Gilmore Girls/Stargate story, the pace certainly is a lot faster.I've toyed with the idea of writing a story for these two where nothing happens and by the end they're both climbing the walls from the strain.

Date: 2008-10-30 03:22 am (UTC)In that case, my question is: when are Physics of the Spin and or Dawning Light going to be updated? Soon, please?
I know you just updated PotS (and it was made of awesomeness), but will the next chapter be ready soon? A week, a couple of weeks, a month, several months (please not the last one)? Just a guesstimate would be greatly appreciated.
And Dawning Light? Any updates on the horizon?

Date: 2008-10-30 05:48 am (UTC)Strongest idea, I'd go with Physics of the Spin (http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/tag/physics+of+the+spin), because it's taken me and will not let me go. The threads of the story weave together nicely, with a lot of forward movement (the plot) and lateral movement (character development) and I just love it to pieces. Initially, I wasn't going to write the story because I thought it was too out-there, even as a crossover, but never let it be said I'm not up for a challenge.
(these are the ones most recent in my mind, so if I had to go back and look at everything, I might change my mind, but these are my off-the-cuff comments)
I tend to put a lot of effort into my lead characters, even if the story isn't always told from their POV (an example would be of Anita in Dawning Light - I envision the whole story from Anita's POV, even though the story is told by Dawn, because there is something emotionally powerful for a woman like Anita to suddenly find herself in the role of mother to such a damaged child, and Dawn is seeing her reactions without really knowing what is driving Anita, but I want the audience to see the adult reactions. It's hard, but I'm trying.
I hope that wasn't too rambley :)

Date: 2008-10-30 04:31 am (UTC)Of course, I'm still gasping in anticipation for the next chapter of Physics with a spin and Inevitable.
I am willing to offer up bits of my soul for new chapters, if you're interested in something an tainted as mine. *grin* hmm.. that sentence made more sense in my head. Off to bed.

Date: 2008-10-30 05:52 am (UTC)The three main stories I'm working on now are Physics, Inevitable and Dawning Light - no more small stories at the movement. Writing Agent Afloat Atlantis took the wind out of those sails. And I'm always on the lookout for the next big epic, but nothing is coming at me. Hopefully this will mean I can continue on and finish the WIPs. Right? Right.
All I need is some time to get the writing done.....

Date: 2008-10-30 05:58 am (UTC)(I've always been of the opinion that sex only belongs in a story when it moves the plot forward, and the only way sex would move the plot in Inevitable would be in a very wrong sort of way, and that's not the story I'm aiming for now, so no sex for us (we're British))

Date: 2008-10-30 09:22 am (UTC)Now, questions... Were you ever tempted to make Harry a wereworlf in the "normal" sense? What made you decide to make his beast similar to Anita's?
Personally, I would have liked Harry to have become a werewolf but I can totally see why you would go the other way (man, could you imagine the drama if he had been a true werewolf?).

Date: 2008-10-30 03:11 pm (UTC)I was wondering if we will soon see more of Anita's powers. So far she has posed as a muggle for the wizards and I have to say that I'm waiting in tension for her true nature to be revealed at Hogwarts. I just can't wait to see their reactions XD.
And yes I agree that if there weren't any more drama I think it would drive both of them insane. Anita would probably fully develop her (former well justified) paranoia and shoot at anything that moves.
Also, will there be more chapters soon? (please)

Date: 2008-10-30 04:37 pm (UTC)Is the bond Harry has with Anita the reason he can't shift like a normal lycanthrope?
I mean, it makes perfect sense, if Harry can... Channel (I'm not sure that's the right word for this though) enough his power through Anita to create a manifestation of himself and hex Olaf, then why couldn't Anita subconsciously send whatever keeps her from shifting back to Harry?
And aside from the standard "wen u updteing Inevitable? i ned plsssssss" question that's all I've got D:

Date: 2008-11-04 07:19 am (UTC)Longer answer: Harry didn't shift because he's like Anita. He has that strain of magic in him that's not quite the same as everyone else. With Anita, it's her death magic. With Harry (for the purposes of this story) he's tinged with the vampire blood from his grandfather. He's always been a little different from his schoolmates, being hopeless at some things and also far advanced (like the Patronus charm) in others, and I wanted to tie that into his otherness.
And *that* was how he managed to synch himself up to Anita, first in the woods while she was under the Crutiatus Eternium curse, and then later with those dreams and the Olaf thing. There is more to that, but I'll save that for the sequel :)
And more soonish. I hope. I want to get this story done before the end of the calender year.

Date: 2008-10-31 01:19 am (UTC)My question for Inevitable is kind of random, but I have wondered what happend in the year you skipped for Harry. (unless I remember wrong, you skipped the 6th year, right? It has been a while since I've read it). Not much seems to have happend other then to increase the tensions in the wizarding world and Harry learned more healing spells. Any thoughts on the defense teacher for that year? (random question is random...)

Date: 2008-10-31 07:03 am (UTC)I did skip year six... and have promptly forgotten what happened, if anything. It wasn't really important to this story. What I do recall was that the teacher was no one we knew, but the kids learned about healing magics; and there was a big year-end clash where Theodore Nott was captured by Aurors and then "interrogated" to death, which was a watershed event for Harry in realizing that the Aurors are not always right, and there are gray areas in life, some things that are never justified, and for a boy becoming a young man in a time of conflict that is a time of horrible realization.
That was the worst sentence ever. I'm sorry. I am on cold meds and there's Halloween tomorrow and I've been reading too much Stephen King.
In all honesty, I just skipped year six because I needed Harry to be 17 and a legal adult in the Wizarding world so I could get him away from the Dursleys. But it's all working out quite well, I think :)

Many thanks, wylah.

I have never ever seen or read anything about Anita Blake, and still it makes sense to me.
Anyway *pokes friendly* when are we going to be able to read the end?!!! *grin*
Or did miss it somehow?
Greetings from a snowed in and freezing German village!
