A guy from the base near my home was a decorated soldier, a sergeant, had a purple heart and many other honors a civilian like me wouldn't be able to name. He comes out as gay, after struggling for years, and what happens? He gets a dishonorable discharge. It's such bullshit. I think this chapter really hits a nerve with me because I've seen it happen.
On the other hand, Yay Rory/John!
