LKH and fanfic

Flist! Help! I've heard two differing views of LKH's take on people writing fanfic on her stories:

1) Back, back Satan!
and
2) Meh. Can't read it, but Anita/Edward EW!

I'm paraphrasing. Does anyone know which of these is closer to the *actual* take? Plsthnx

PS if anyone answers with a real answer, I'll put out the next chapter of Inevitable by Wednesday.

Sorry! Fanfic is illegal and therefore banned on this board.

I know there are a lot of folks who think fanfic is okay, but we have consulted with numerous lawyers and that area of the law gray (read they couldn't agree). So until some court rules one way or another and clarifys the situation, we are going to err on the side of caution.

Fanfic may or may not erode copyright. That is the reason we are erring on the side of caution. This is Laurell's livelihood and that of all the folks who work in the publishing industry from the publisher down to the bookstore clerk. It is just too iffy still.

This policy of zero tolerance will continue until a court makes a clear ruling.

Actually, I'll rephrase that .. here's something I hadn't read:

You may write fanfic. You may post it somewhere not here. Please do not send it to Laurell. She won't read it, we won't read it. Too iffy on taking the chance that she has something similar in mind and will be writing about it eventually.

At the same time, no publisher will ever put your fanfic in a book without the permission of the original author unless copyright. This is why there is such a large underground fanfic movement. There are just too many legal issues to deal with so we suggest you don't.

So apparently it's OK to write LKH fanfic as long as they don't see it on their board.

That means I can write my HP/AB:VH crossover now! EEP! Like I didn't have enough to write ..

I came up with the idea and wrote a rough outline about 2 years ago. I was scared by the fact that the LKH hounds of hell would track me down and eat me if I posted it, so I never wrote it. I figured if I couldn't show it off, why bother ..

But now...

I also have a Smallville/Stargate SG-1 fic outlined but not written. A BtVS fic outlined but not written .. not to mention all my HP fic.

Well, I'm trying to picture the Smallville and SG-1 one.... and I'm curious as to what direction your HP/AB outline took. Basically, I'm a very curious person.
