Thank you. I really needed this. Seriously, it was good, interesting, just a little off from the original. We see things that actually might have been there the first time but that Anita wouldn't have noticed. Like Jean-Claude's expression.

Thanks. This chapter and the next are similar to what happened in the book; after that, things will veer off sharply. This whole thing stemmed from something that happened to me a while ago. I was standing on a street corner, waiting to cross the street. I was looking one way, and saw a car going to fast to stop at the light, so I stayed on the sidewalk. But after that, I thought to myself, what if I'd been looking the other way? Just a tiny, tiny change can make all the difference in the world.

A theme which I will be exploring here in great detail.

Neato chapter - I only vaguely remember how it went in canon, and I'm so tired at the moment I'm pretty close to brain dead, but the thing with the horse was neat. Gory, but neat. I wonder how all these little changes will alter how things turn out between her and Richard, who she only just "met", first impressions being so important.

I was worried the horse thing might be seen as a bit of a power surge, then I remembered books 1 through 12. I gave it a chance :P

You picked up on an important point. In canon, Anita used her gun to take out the snake's mouth. Now, using her magic? A whole different thing.
