Inevitable 24: Wait a Minute, Something's Wrong Here is posted.

At TTH
(and if TTH is broken:)
At Pomme de Sang
At Skyehawke

As usual, I crave feedback, so let me know what you think. More character building, and Anita finds that things aren't as rosy as she expected. More Harry next chapter! In fact, next chapter is all Harry, all the time. Mrow.

This was great. As always. I cannot tell you how this has made my day. In my own WIP, I have a similar issue where Anita cannot feed the ardeur in the traditional way and we are looking at alternatives. I really like how Anita doesn't snap back to her old self simply because the marks are open. I like how Harry is taking a more assertive role with Nathaniel. Not dominant, just encouraging.

The thing with Anita is most of her past trauma has been physical, and she's used to getting over that. The fallout from this curse is mental, a whole new world of angst for our girl.

I think it's good for Nathaniel to have Harry around, someone who's not on the pard power scale, and who's a good person. Nate needs more good people in his life.

I think Harry has been very good for Nathaniel. And vice versa. Harry has had Ron and Hermione but not strangers. He's bonding with Jason and Nathaniel and it's cute.

As for Anita's psychological trauma, it's great. As a Micah fan, I was thrilled to see him turn to Anita and tell her no. I love how out of element she is but still so in character.

I liked this chapter. I think it's interesting that Harry finds the scent of blood makes him focus, unlike other lycanthropes. And I like that he knows how to handle (is that the right word??) Nathaniel. Nathaniel needs more people to encourage his independence (like making his own decisions without checking with Anita).
Overall, I really like it. I think Anita is tramuatized, but that she doesn't quite know how to recover from a mental attack, rather than a physical injury.

Handling Nathaniel is a good way of putting it. He does need a handler most days.

*removes mind from gutter*

Now that Anita knows something is wrong, and can't get away from that fact, she'll be on the road to recovery. (It will happen during a nice JC/Anita date in a day or two, story-wise)

Anything I can do to spread the Micah love :)

I'm glad you like it. I also love a good character development chapter like this one.

Mhalachai,

I always enjoy reading the newest updates from your story Inevitable...especially this last chapter. It is always nice to read a 'turn-around' in a story...To feel with the characters a resolution, though perhaps only gradual, to the problems they were facing. I truly love how you seem to capture the essence of both the Anita Blake and Harry Potter series...Indeed, it is because I started reading Inevitable that I went to my local book store, bought and read the whole series (including that over-priced hard-back) over the course of a month. Your writing style is marvelous, subtle and captivating, decidedly less risque than Hamilton wrote her books, yet still gives me the sense of passion and snugglies that her own writing did. I cannot wait to see what you will write in the next chapter...you promise us Harry, and I do believe that we will enjoy any words that you deign to allow us to see will send your loyal readers(who are ashamed to admit that they[by this I mean I] don't review as often as they wish to) into paroxyms and convulsions of joy.

bessos y abrazos,
E.A.V.

A new chapter to make my day that much brighter!

Loved the interaction between Harry and Nathaniel. Sort of passive-aggressive psychology used for Good, instead of Evil :).

And, of course, I loved everything else - all very much in character. So very Richard-and-Anita *sad sigh*. And reliable Micah. All good!

Nate needs some passive aggressive help, as oppposed to Anita's "ignore it and it will go away" style. (Ok, to be fair, she's getting over that. But you know what I mean)

Thanks :)

Wow

That is an amazing story. I read if over two days at work and can't wait for the next chapter.
I haven't even read Harry Potter before but you make it so that I don't have to but I understand what is going on. Truly a wonderful piece of fan fic.
Am I allowed to print it to share with others?

Thank you

Thank you so much! Your comment totally made my day. You can print it if you'd like, no worries there.

We'll get to more Harry Potter stuff in a few chapters, and I'm sure that it'll be explained at the time.

:)

Okay, I found the blood thing interesting, 'cause I think we're forgetting something really important here, yes Mhalachai is playing with our heads on if Harry is a lycanthrope or not, but we must not forget that Harry has some vampire blood in him as well. Since he is Damien's grandson. Now, will this be a factor or not. I think it will be. XD

Me? Messing with your head? Why ever do you say that?

Let me just say this.... it ALL matters. Even Harry's headache :P

Wait a minute. Did I mention the headache in this chapter or not? Anyway, it's in the new one.
