Inevitable 27: That's Not What Love Is To Me is up.

At TTH
(and if TTH is broken:)
At Pomme de Sang
At Skyehawke

Comments on this chapter: It's fluffy, or at least as fluffy as I will ever write. A nice (nice?) interlude for Anita (yes, another Anita-only POV chapter. Probably the last one). JC/Anita fans, rejoice!

The rest will be slower in coming out because I think I messed up my wrist again. This is what happens when I make icons. *grumble*.

As usual, any comments are appreciated. I live for comments. And any talk at all on AB or HP :)

I completely wholeheartedly loved it. Gosh Jean Claude and Anita are so cute together, they are by far the best pairing. Just wanted to say that and oh i was wondering how you feel about the whole slash thing. I mean do you like reading stories with slash. I don't want to upset anyone, but I just don't understand why they're so many stories with slash in them. I mean the only real slash pairing in the Anita Blake books are Jean Claude and Asher and she has never really gone into it. I know that most of the men have had sex with other men, but none of them are currently with other men. Anyway I hope your wrist feels better.

I think we have a better understanding of Anita and JC from the books (from Anita's pov, and all) and it's easier to fall into the rhythym of writing them. At least for me :)

If I'm reading you right about the slash, you're as much a stickler for characterization as I am. Personally, I can't force characters to do stuff, or have them act outside the way we see them in the books without pages and pages of backstory. And I've got another story to tell right now.

Other than that, I can't say much about slash. I will read slash stories, but as with any story I read, I look for chracterization above all. (And I have read a few awesome "slash" stories, mostly set in the HPverse.)

Thanks for reading!

I've rejoiced now, thank you! I liked this chapter. It was a "nice interlude for Anita" which she needed. Because now we can get back on track. Bad things will still happen but it feels like everyone is on more even footing. Harry is growing up and Anita is allowing it. But she's still Anita with all that that entains. This is such an amazing story.

I am sorry to hear about your wrist.

It was nice for Anita, and for me to write. I'm thinking of this as the last chapter in this "section", the one about Anita's focus on the Bellatrix event. Next chapter, we begin the next section, about how it is now Harry who will do some growing.

That last line had me thinking very Princess Bride thoughts - "As you wish!" :)

It seems Anita is mostly glued back together. There's (emotional) scars to show for her experience, but she's functioning again. Can't wait to see where it goes from here. Great chapter!

The Princess Bride.... I had actually used that line as the last for the chapter, reread it, and went Ack! I try not to crib like that, especially unintentionally.

Thanks!

Oh, and sorry to hear about your wrist. Hope it gets better quickly.

On a completely different topic, will Edward make any appearance at all in this fic?

Edward... Yes, he will be showing up, but I cannot give any more details on how or why or when without giving away plot details :)

That's fine by me! *covers ears to prevent Inevitable spoilers (ho ho)*

It's just that, after LKH said Edward won't be in Danse Macabre (which I won't get for ages anyway, being in Australia)...I'm glad you've got it covered.

In whatever manner that may be.

Thanks so much :) JC and Anita are my faves, along with ... well, everyone else. I loves them all, these pairings.

It's nice, every once in a while, to see Anita relax and enjoy herself. It's also amusing to think of Edward, seeing a picture of JC and Anita out on the town, wondering how many weapons Anita had on her. ^_^

The difference of opinion on Harry's training session (with Jean-Claude) is quite interesting. Anita, despite her best efforts, hasn't been able to convince herself (fully) that, when it comes to the "I've got to protect X" habit she has, Harry isn't weak/soft enough that he's going to be a permanent resident of Group X. Likewise, Jean-Claude's reaction shows some of the habits he built up (first as a whipping boy for a noble, then latter as a fledgling vampire) during the first few decades of his existence. Namely, if you don't want to be (or remain) someone's prey, then you have to get stronger.

Their comments about Meng Die also show some interesting sides to them. First off, Jean-Claude's (semi-) unvoiced comments the Meng Die could have been much more successful if she'd gone for the "seduce" option, instead of the "mental hammer to the head" option. Then there's the little exchange about Jean-Claude not thinking that Meng Die is ready (at least not yet) to become a Master of a City, and not just because she isn't powerful enough yet.

Thanks for your email message, btw. I'll be composing a reply to your response once I have both free time and no problems using my email service.

Also, I can only wince in sympathy at the your current problem with your wrist. Well, that and hope you feel better soon.
