How many of those are Harry: None.

Inevitable 29: Rasberry Jam is up!

At TTH
(and if TTH is broken:)
At Pomme de Sang

Please, comment away! I'll have more to say on this chapter tomorrow, but I'm so tired I could die.

PS it's still Friday where I live :O

Now that was a cliffhanger! I really enjoyed this chapter. Dumbledore felt in character to me. His inability to be flustered is great to read. I also love how you didn't solve all of Anita's issues with the curse through one night with Jean-Claude. It would have been too easy. One small note. Micah's last name is Callahan, no g. I also thought Harry showed real presence in this chapter. He's maturing and it shows in his dealings with the headmaster. He's always respected Dumbledore but in this chapter, he behaves like he is on equal footing - not on magical terms but on human terms. Nice job!

it's not as bad a cliffhanger as last chapter. I just needed to show the world that the minor conversations in this chapter was not the end of it.

I think part of Harry's growing maturity is due to his being around adults who treat him as a peer. Even in spite of Anita's ocassional lapses, mostly everyone (Nathaniel, Jason, JC) are reacting to Harry like he's an adult. That can do a lot to a person.

Thanks!

Narrgh! But I wanna hear what they'll say when Harry's not around!

Great chapter. Anita binning the jam made me laugh :)
Of course I'm looking forward to the next chapter. In all the excitement, I'd forgotten the problem with the American wizards; I wonder if Dumbledore could help in any way (or if he's out of his jurisdiction, so to speak). Once again, your Nathaniel is amazing - submissive and forthright by turns. He must be difficult to get a handle on.

(two typos that I noticed - one near-ish the beginning, where Dumbledore cleans his glasses on the end of his "bead", and right at the end, Harry thinks being with Nathaniel is like being "along"; beard, alone, respectively)

Don't worry, you will :)

Thanks for the typos notice. It was really late when I reread this thing, and missing letters are an easy thing to overlook. *shakes head*

Brilliant as usual. I of course like Dumbledore far too mucha nd Anita far too little to enjoy the scene where she's all bitchy, but other than that I really enjoyed it. I loved when Harry and Dumbledore were talking, and I can't wait to read more.

Also, I've never understood this, what is Anita's deal with miss and ms.?

Miss tends to be used for young girls, and is viewed as old fashioned, so in most professional situations, Ms. is used to address a woman. In fact, at work, we will use "Ms." to refer to any woman, even one we know to be married, unless she has indicated a desire to be referred to as Mrs.

I personally wouldn't call anyone Miss unless I knew them to be in high school. It's just out of date (of course, I live on the Godless Canadian West Coast, so.)

Amazing.

Is it wrong for me to keep wishing that Harry and Nathaniel kiss?

I know. So wrong.

What's worse?

I want Jason to join in.

God, I am such a slut.

But it was a great chapter. Personally, I want Anita to put the beat down on Dumbledore. In that series, he holds far too much in his pocket. I think alot of the heartbreak could be spared if he just shared his thoughts once in a while. ::sigh::

If the next part takes time, then it takes time. Send anyone who complains my way and I'll show them what we do to people who complain a fic is coming too slow. ::cracks knuckles::

This isn't that kind of story (although I'm sure I could make it work :P)

Thanks for your comments (and offer). I just need to line my ducks up so I can shoot them down easily.

Ding! Ding! Round one had ended!

... Please feel free to ask the attendants for your free plastic wrap, before round two - and the bloodletting - begins!

So, my previous comments on Harry's exceptional (exceptionally good or bad, with no in between) luck seem to be true. I like the theory that it was a combo of Richard's link to Anita (via the Marks) combined with Harry's magic that allowed Bella's curse to be broken. Although Anita is still suffering some of the aftereffects. (Which only makes sense, IMO. The surgeons might have been able to save your life, and put the pieces back together, but you're still going to have to go through a period of recovery and rehab.)

Now, while we're on Bella's Curse, I'm guessing that at least one of the following things are true about the curse: It's a very new development in the Dark Arts; It's a very recently rediscovered curse; it's very hard to use (skill- and/or power-wise); it's very hard to learn.

The reason why I think that at least one of these is true, is because it would otherwise be *very* popular with those using the Unforgivables. Likewise, the fact that only three people have died from it (for the moment) seems to suggest that there's a good reason why the Death Eaters aren't using it to help increase the fear they bring into the hearts of the Wizarding masses.

Part of Anita's problem with Dumbledore, IMO, is fact that Anita has even less respect for things like prophesies than Harry or Hermione in the beginning of their Fifth year at Hogwarts. Sure, the odds might suck, but you still have a chance (no matter how poor) of killing the Big Baddie. It takes skill. It takes (in many cases) power. It takes luck. And, with Anita, it often takes a willingness to go down into the Dark with the Baddie's throat between your hands, if need be. But, in Anita's experience, vampires and dark magic users *can* be killed.

And, IMO, she isn't that far off. More than one fanfiction writer has pointed out that every witch and wizard should have had (at the least!) the equivalent of five years of Defense training. (Even if they didn't get taught at one of the main schools in Europe. Although, given some of Hogwarts DADA teachers, that might not be *bad* thing.) But the vast majority are too *scared* of the Death Eaters to pose a (half-decent) threat to even the rawest recruit.

It's like all the stories of a large group of people being held hostage by someone with an full-auto assault rifle or submachine gun. Sure, if the whole group is willing to attack the guy, and willing to risk being killed from the shots the gunman makes before being taken down, then the gunman looses. But most of us don't want to risk being one of the (X) fatalities among the (Y) people in the room. Even when you hear the gunman state that he'll kill one person in the room for every hour his demands aren't met.

... And let's hope that Anita doesn't find this out. Because Anita seems (IMO) to put psychics/magic users in the same category as cops. It doesn't matter to her if you're on vacation, or your next shift doesn't start for a few hours, Anita's opinion of your will drop like a *stone* if she thinks you didn't do your all to stop the Bad Guys, when they were right in front of you.

Eagerly, but (hopefully) patiently, awaiting the next chapter!

The Apprentice.

Nice cliffhanger! I think Harry has to go back to England, doesn't he? Just to get a fuller magical education so he's more prepared against Voldemort.

Thanks! A Mhalachai chapter that doesn't end in a cliffhanger... it's like a day without sunshine :)

And I'm not spilling what's going to happen with Harry just yet.

Wonderful story still
I've said it before, I've never read the Harry Potter books so I don't know if Dumbledore is in character but he seems right in my head, kinda a stuffed shirt, condecending but well meaning.
I'm sure there were some terribly witty things I planned on saying but I forgot them. So I will just say, I am looking forward to the next chapter and take as much time as you need to make it perfect (and long? so I have less time to wait?)
