Me, 10 minutes ago: "I suck, I can't write, I'll never get Inevitable done, and no one loves me."

Me, two minutes ago: "I suck, I can't write, I'll never get Inevitable done, and no one loves me."

This chapter of Inevitable is kicking my ass. I totally need to go back to my plan of writing out the chapter, then typing it up. Then I only need to figure out what happens until the end of the story-month. No problems, right?

*grumble* I think I'll spend the night writting ficlettes.

In other news:

Please feel free to send me any infomation you have (and links, if you got 'em) on this movie deal for Guilty Pleasures. I'll start a little update page if I get enough info. Feel free to email me if you'd like (mhalachai at gmail dot com)

ETA: I am officially no longer allowed to read any more Serenity fic. I get all teary and I can't read. It's a bad scene.

As per a discussion in this thread: (http://www.livejournal.com/users/mhalachaiswords/110288.html), apparenly LKH announced last night at the Wolf Howl reading that they were making a movie of Guilty Pleasures, and she's the one writing the screenplay.

Yeah.

Wow! I'm glad she held out for creative control. Otherwise I'm afraid that Hollywood would have done to her what they're doing to Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy (you know that whole God-is-evil-and-is-trying-to-kill-you theme? Junked) or what they tried to do to the Potterverse before JKR smacked them around (Hogwarts in America? With cheerleaders?).

*agog* They WHAT?

I know that LKH was holding out for creative control for a while... she's been talking about not wanting to give up control like that. To which I say: Right on. At least the Anita-voice will be down pat.

Yeah, they WHAT. (See post (http://www.livejournal.com/users/mhalachaiswords/110429.html?thread=816221#t816221) below.)

I find both of those ideas very disturbing. Could you dig up a link or two for them, please?

Links referencing "Hogwarts High" and cheerleaders: here (http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?Story_ID=260091) (scroll down), here (http://history.250x.com/vaults/c124.htm) (this one mentioning Spielberg's wanting these elements, and pulling out of the movies when JKR refused to let him have them), and here (http://www.iofilm.co.uk/feats/filmmaking/harry_potter.shtml) (more on what Spielberg wanted to do to the films -- eeeergh!). There are many, many more, but this should suffice.

Links referencing Philip Pullman's, erm, letting the US moviemakers rape his books (whilst he tries to pretend that this isn't what he's letting them do): here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4077987.stm), and here (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1393306,00.html) (the outrage of his fandom at the news is mentioned -- but then, as mentioned here (http://www.darkmaterials.com/adap2-2.htm), Pullman's attitude has always been "take the money and run" when it comes to film adaptations)

Thank you. Good grief, how appalling. Still, Tom Stoppard is almost certain to do a good job, IMO.

Oh, and you too can write! Quit picking on yourself, or I'm telling MOM!!!

Seriously, would it help if I threw another Inevitable-verse ficlet your way? To jump-start your muse? (And it won't even be smutty -- unless you request it so. ;-)

Oh! I will not say no to an Inevitable ficlette. What do you have in mind?

You pick the scenario: Where, when (in the Inevitable timeline, that is) and with whom.

*Jumps up and down* I'd love something with Harry... and Jean-Claude? In the three-day period between chapter 32 and 33 (the last one). How about them continuing Harry's anti-vamp glare training, plus whatever advice JC has to offer the young lad?

You are most excellent!

Hee! That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. OK, I'll try and get you something worked up right away!

By the way, have y'all seen the opening paragraphs from DM (http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/Anita/DanseMacabreChapterOne.html) yet?

Nathaniel. Is. God. That is all.

Jusr learned some more info on the movie. 'Seinfeld's' Jason Alexander is strongly attached to the mie. Whether as a producer or what not is not specified but he will not be in the movie. I hated Seinfeld... I think I'm going to let you go see the movie first and I'll see it after you tell us if it's any good or not.
