K, not sure how this will work, but I should give it a go.

Solstice Open Thread

I'm throwing open a post for any question you have for me, on anything I've ever written: Any fic, any plot point, any characterization issue, length, time, anything. I will also respond to any question you have on any other point. So, um, query away.

... I can't think of anything.

More story? ;)

Yes, more story soon. Thankfully, I have a four-day weekend coming up, then another 5 day weekend after that. Oh, what an interesting work schedule I have.

I just thought that some people might want to, you know, talk about stuff. That may be my desire to talk about stuff, though. Like Inevitable. It's eating my brain, in a good way :)

One really neat thing about Inevitable is that it's obvious that you're having a blast writing it. And why not? The premise is something that, in the hands of someone with a clue and without an agenda, will -- pardon the pun -- inevitably lead to a good story.

You know, this is something that will never happen in your universe, but I was imagining Molly Weasley meeting Nathaniel and instantly adopting him, much as she did Harry -- and how Nathaniel (and Anita!) might react to that. :-)

You know, if Molly met Nathaniel along with Harry one day, when there was no Anita present, then I think they'd get along famously. However, I have a sneaking suspicion, based upon what we've seen so far about necromancers and wizards, that Molly v. Anita would be fraught with uncomfortableness.

Also, it just occured to me that Anita is probably Bill's age, and Nate's... 22? Percy's age? Just the right age for Molly to be all motherly. (Oh, how Anita would hate that).

(I'm curious as to what you mean by "an agenda". What kind of an agenda?)

Yeah, Molly's mothering gene is hard to suppress -- and yes, Anita would hate it even as she finds herself craving it.

As far as "agenda" goes, I'm thinking in terms of fiction written with a specific something-or-other in mind -- usually involving porn or some other thing that's usually an excuse to make characters behave horribly and unbelievably out-of-character. Does that make sense? ;-p

yeah, it makes sense. Like suddenly having Goth!Harry.

I can say that Anita and Molly will meet, but that it won't be like anything we've talked about here :P

1. So, how is Inevitable eating your brain? ;)

2. And, might we ever see your AB/Firefly crossover 'verse again? 'cause I loved and adored it.

3. Would gifts, bribes and ritual offerings possibly result in more 'Candlelight'?

1. It's all I seem to think about some days, writing-wise. How scenes will play out, various scenes that won't make it into the story, how things will happen, 7 years into the story. Not that it goes on for 7 years, at least not this one. Only until Nov. 4 in the fic year.

2. At this point, probably not. The sequel, which was to be told from the point of view of Ashley, would be an interesting character study but I've only got so much time to write.

3. *kicks ground* I can't think of a way to make the end work... unless I do something I was toying with a while ago. Hrm. We'll see how the vacation helps me write. Maybe I'll just sit down and write it til it's done, one day.

What kind of bribes would you require? I can do yarny things? ;)

Nah, no bribes necessary. I've actually got a plan to get back to that story, I promise.

Switchback

1. Any idea of how long it's going to be?
2. How many books will you cover?
3. If I offer a virgin sacrifice slathered in chocolate, will that get the next chapter out sooner?

1. We're about 1/3 of the way through the first installment, which I should probably re-name "Switchback: Circus of the Damned" for clarity.

2. All of them, and beyond, by the end of the third installment. We will remain AU from Danse Macabre, however.

3. Sadly, no. But big smiles might :)

I'm curious as to what inspired you to write Switchback. It's a really intriquing concept and a fantastic fic.

I really have no idea how I came up with the idea... I wish I could blame it all on something profound, but it just occured to me one day to wonder how things might have been different, if Anita hadn't betrayed JC to Mr. Oliver in CotD. I needed a reason for her not to do it, and this just sprung up.

Of course, set as it is after ID, we've got the added bonus of Anita losing everybody that she loves. Even JC isn't her JC. We will get to the heart of what she truly is, and what she will become.

[/melodrama]

I keep meaning to write more of it, but I'm finding it very hard to flip back and forth between Inevitable-Anita and Switchback-Anita. They're both going through drama, but so very different. I've got someting in the works at the moment, though.

Something other than Inevitable and Switchback?

I get that. It can be hard to juggle two different stories at once in your brain. At least, it is for me.

Sorry, no, something for Switchback. It took me a while to figure out this chapter's main conflict. All better now.

We have AB/HP and BtVS/AB, could there possibly be any HP/BtVS full length crossover fics in the future?

I would really love to see how you would spin it.

Honestly, I'm finding that I'm growing away from the Buffy-verse in my writing. As with all cancelled shows, I find that the fond memories are being replaced by those still living. *sniff*

Plus, I like to break new ground. There's not as much AB/HP or AB/BtVS fic out there, and I like to think I'm doing a community service by helping to fill that gap.

(sound convincing enough? :P)
