State of the WIP Address

So, readers, I, your humble author, will address the state of my works in progress, in no real order.

Inevitable
Chapters completed: 51
Chapters total: 71 or so
Progress: It's the main story I'm working on these days. I have mapped this story out to the end... yes, even the bitter end. I'm suspecting that these last 20 chapters will be a bit longer than normal, to get all the info in. Not sure on the time line, but I'm suspecting about one-and-a-half three months. You read that right.

Switchback
Chapters completed: 11
Chapters total: Zillions (Actually, I dunno)
Progress: I'm writing Switchback slowly because it has to be right. There is no happy fix.The subject matter demands thought, and so I need to go slowly. Also, I can't concentrate on this story too much, or else I go crazy. It's very depressing because it's not unreal.

And when I say "zillions," I mean that there are three parts to this story. I think part one, that we're currently in, will have about 25 chapters or so. Part two will be about the same length as part one. Part three... I have no idea. Much will happen. Not Inevitable long, but probably longer than part one. I think that's probably next on tap after I finish Inevitable. Not sure how much I'll have done before Danse Macabre comes out, however. So far, nothing in Micah is directly contradicting my story. Well, nothing I can't handle.

Candlelight
Chapters completed: 6
Chapters total: 15 or so
Progress: It's slow, as we all know, but I know how it ends. As all here know, it's not a priority as things go.

Letterbox
Chapters completed: 5
Chapters total: ??
Progress: I'm stalled. I jumped into the fic without really having an out. It's not an abandoned fic. I'll have an ending to it. Some day.

Magnolia
Chapters completed: Two
Chapters total: Five
Progress: Oh, the dreaded sex scene. Plus I'm starting to wondering what I'm doing, having Anita have a one-night stand. Maybe I'll have to write a on-shot "repercussions of Anita having sex with a total stranger to feed the ardeur" fic.

Also, an ZOMG!!11!!eleventy-one!!! I found the Firefly DVDs at Best Buy! No waiting for them to come through the mail! Plus I got the Harry Potter 2-disc set. Oh, retail therapy.

Sequel... oh, the eternal question. I've got something in mind; a series of shorts that run over six years or so, then a proper sequel. I'm not sure if I'll get around to the sequel. The shorts, for sure.

You.are.amazing. Have I told you that recently? If not, consider that my telling you. =P Seriously, you have the only WIPs that I don't mind reading, cause you update so darn fast! It pleases me to no end, lol.

And dude, Firefly and Harry Potter?! Wicked cool! I went to Blockbuster to buy HP, and they only had the one disk one...it doesn't have ANY special features, and not even a booklet for chapters or anything. =S Ah well, I'll switch with my mom when I get home over the summer, hehehe. <33

I've been looking everywhere for the Firefly DVDs in store. I was hesitant to buy it over the Internet machine because I have a thing about paying for shipping. You know? And the Harry Potter thing... the second DVD has an interview with the kids and some additional scenes. Worth the extra $3, I thought.

I'm hesitant about buying things over the internet, too. I haven't yet, and I don't really plan to start! I wish I could buy the Firefly DVDs...I saw them in Future Shop the other day and I wanted to get it SO badly, but alas, I'm broke. =( So, I'm thinking of asking for them for my birthday! Dad would watch em too, so it'd be worth it ;) hehe

The Firefly DVDs are the gift that keeps on giving. You can make friends ("Hey, come to a Firefly night at my place!") and all that good stuff.

I've been in and out of Future Shop and Best Buy for over a YEAR looking for these things. This was the first time I ever saw them. Now, I am the winner.

Oh, man. The Ficlette Fiasco. How aptly named. I really need to take a look at those again. The AB/LotR just needs writing, and the AB/FF ones are okay... it's the CSI ones and anything to do with Merry Gentry that make me dizzy.

Which ones did you want? *digs* Vignette from Different Eyes (AB/FF) I forget, was that before or after the story itself? *digs more* Did I ask you if you wanted it to be Ashley's POV? Hey, I did. It's all coming back to me now.

I think, after finally finishing Any Given Tuesday and giving up on that thing with Kate Lockely, I got it down to a managable level. Five WIPs doesn't seem to bad, somehow.

The thing is this: Magnolia has a short end in sight. Inevitable... I've had the end in my head for a long time, and it just flows these days. Switchback is hard, and I'll have a devil of a time writing the second part, but I know how it has to end. Candlelight, likewise, has several episodes before the end (where episode will come out as a chapter). Maybe it's just the luck of the draw. I don't know. What I *do* know is that the Goblet of Fire DVD is a fun watch. I'm in love with angsty!Ron. Although not really, because that would be beyond creepy.

Actually, I think I read on Laurell's blog that Danse Macabre is supposed to be over a thousand pages long, which would make it longer than Incubus Dreams, right?

Oh and laso, a wonderful list of all your fics Mhalachai, though I am a bit bummed that Invitable is only going to have 20 more chapters! I was hoping for at least a hundred, isn't that what you hinted at a few days back? Or is it just that you've decided to mesh the chapters together, thus making them longer but the story shorter? It doesn't really matter, as long as you keep on writing the story because I am totally in love with it! Cannot wait for the next part!

I can't remember how long she said it is. The page number comparison with Micah won't work though, because the type wasn't as dense as on a nomral book. Anyway.

I have to end this fic at some point, and I mapped it out for 71 chapters. Or so. Still have to factor in the kinks. The chapters will be long-ish, but I figure I can get the story told in that many chapters.

I'm glad you have such prolific ambitions. I have a voracious appetite for fic and bad fic just doesn't satisfy. :D
