How to give a Harry Potter fan a heart attack:
1. Try to enter "http://www.hp-lexicon.org/" in your browser
2. See "This domain name expired on 04/24/2006 and is pending renewal or deletion."
3. Panic.
How will I find out who has the Mauraders' Map now? Do I have read those books again? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Anyone know why PDS and the Lexicon and everything else on the Internet is breaking all at the same time?
ETA: NEVER MIND it's working now there was problems etc etc and I happened to try and see it during a problem time. OH WELL now I don't have to read those books again.
ETA2: NO IT'S NOT WORKING FOR ME oh well.

Date: 2006-04-30 07:33 pm (UTC)If a domain expires, the site it belongs to will stop responding unless it has a dedicated IP address and you know that address. The Lexicon's domain expired and they appear to have renewed it -- but not quickly enough, as the site stopped responding. It generally takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours for new DNS information (or restored DNS information) to propagate through all the backbones. If your ISP's connection goes through one of the backbones through which it hasn't propagated yet, you won't be able to reach the site. Or it's possible that while the domain's in limbo, some people can still access the site but they'll lose access when the DNS disconnect propagates.
The point: It'll be back. More here.
Have an informative link. (http://wc6.worldcrossing.com/webx?14@@.1de0f987/)
Try the Akashic record (http://wc6.worldcrossing.com/webx?14@@.1de0f987/) or Wikipedia if you can't reach the Lex...

Date: 2006-04-30 07:42 pm (UTC)Oh, I know. I'm just having a strange Sunday. Can't concetrate on a damned thing, and that includes any kind of writing. Maybe I should make tea and everything will be better. At least I'll have something else to whine about:
OMG the tea's so HOT and I have no SUGAR and WOE!
Like that :D
