Blather, true that
Jun. 29th, 2007 12:12 amAm beset by mediocre plot bunnies... and none of them interesting enough to put to paper. There's this Supernatual/Gilmore Girls/Blood Ties crossover, but it's not going anywhere. Sigh.
Last night, I came across a recording I made, a summary of Dawning Light chapter 12. I made the recording just after I had written chapter 11, so the story was fresh in my mind, and I used the recording to work through some of Dawn's issues. And boy, does she have a lot. What's interesting about the recording (other than odd way in which I describe the way Dawn has to Deal With Things), is that I was apparently driving while making it -- At one point I say, "Buddy, that's not a turn lane!"
Anyway, when I have the next chapter up, I'll post the mp3 so you all can hear the complete clarity I have in my plotting. I crack myself up.
My life is strange these days. Work? *punch* Writing? *punch* Running? *punch* I want to slap my life back into order, but I can't reach it.
But I'm not whining. I'm moping. I'm Eeyore. But like Eeyore, I am full of sawdust and keep having my house knocked down by a light breeze.
We have a 350-person conference happening at work right now... tonight was the banquet at Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant and it was lovely. I've been to Sun Sui Wah for dim sum in the past (so much seafood!), but this was the first time I've been there for dinner. The dinner had 10 (ten!) courses. And now I never need to eat again:
1. Chef Special Assorted Hot and Cold Cuts Meat Platter (which was jellyfish, bbq beef, bean curd, deep-fried crab, and surf clam)
2. Shredded Conopoy and Enoki Mushroom Thick Soup (but I stole some Hot and Sour Soup from the vegetarian table)
3. Sauteed Dungress Crabs in Supreme Stock Sauce (after which I was covered in goo -- eating crab legs with chopsticks is best left to someone more coordinated than I)
4. Sauteed Squid and Scallop w/ Vegetable (which was broccoli and was covered in sauce. Nnnm)
5. World Famous Roasted Squab (an interesting bird. Never had sqab before)
6. Deep Fried Honey Garlic Pork Chop (I usually loathe pork, but this was so lovely. As it was covered in garlic and honey! And deep fried)
7. Braised Seasonal Vegetables w/ Chinese Mushroom (I'm in love with the mushrooms. I had three)
8. Steamed Rock Cod (zomg so much love)
9. Pan Fried Rice with Shrimp and BBQ Pork
10. Daily Special Dessert (which was soupy tapioca pudding)
I like these free work dinners, with 150 of my closest mathematician friends. Now I need to get some sleep so I can go in tomorrow and have lots of interviews and hire an administrator to make my life SO MUCH EASIER.
And then a long weekend. Three whole days of not working. I have to prep for two (I said two) upcoming weddings. A wedding of an uncle, and then a good friend from university. This means I'll need to get a haircut. And soon.
Have we all heard Stephen Colbert's predictions for the ending of the next Harry Potter books? Hermione's a dude, Voldemort is the ghost of Harry's dead father whose real name was Rosebud, and on the very last page Harry wakes up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette. I can't wait.

Date: 2007-06-29 09:06 am (UTC)Also? As I am swiftly learning, writers are quick to tire of story ideas that are AWESOME to outside readers. Apparently-mediocre bunnies may not be, so...you know. You don't suck, your ideas don't suck, you are cool, don't get depressed. Et cetera!

Date: 2007-06-29 03:31 pm (UTC)As for the ideas, the problem isn't that I fear people will find them boring -- I find them boring. The "spark" has faded. Usually I get the zap from new installments in my fandoms, but the new HP book isn't out, the movie's not out, and I can't stomach the idea of reading the new AB book. So I'm left bored with fandom, the stories I have, and no real new ideas popping up. I know, I sound like a whiner, but meh. I'm filled with the blahs.
But get back to me in a month to see how I am :P

Date: 2007-06-30 12:07 am (UTC)I remember reading parts of the book and I think MOD goes down on Anita or something. That's just...strange. For Anita to allow it and not freak out.
I really want to read the new Jason book LKH is writing and blathering on about in her blog. It might actually be interesting. I also need to read the comics, I want to read pre-GP before Anita went sex crazy. :x

Date: 2007-06-30 05:35 am (UTC)Oh, I've listen to the soundtrack that you linked me to for Inevitable. For somereason my computer refused to download the program to listen to it on gigasize, BUT I managed to get to listen to a clips of the songs that I don't already have on iTunes. And what I have to say I like it.
