The funny one (Rory, Lorelai)
set anytime

"It's crooked."

"It's not crooked."

"Is too."

A bark sounded from the kitchen.

"See? Paul Anka thinks so too!" Lorelai leaned closer to Rory and held out a lock of hair. "Look at it!"

Rory pushed her mother away and stood to get more popcorn. "Your new haircut is not crooked. You did not waste your money. It looks fine!" Her voice trailed out from the kitchen. "Down, Paul Anka, down!"

Lorelai frowned, staring cross-eyed at the ragged ends of her hair. "I want a do-over."

Frankly, she wasn't surprised when a shoe came flying in her general direction.


The sad one (Rory)
set early season five

The pool house was quiet, decorators and grandmother and Logan all gone.

Rory, abandoned. Interesting plot idea for a book, but pathetic in her reality.

She stared at the pink Birken Bag. Why was she distraught? She had a boyfriend, a place to live, clothes and food.

But...

No Lorelai. Her mother hadn't been right, but in the quiet, Rory remembered better times with Lorelai, and felt even lonelier.

She tore her glare from the bag, wishing her throat didn't hurt so. "I want a do-over," she whispered into the darkness.

The admission sounded even more pathetic than she imagined.


The hopeful one (Rory, Lane (Rory/Dean))
set two years after season seven

Rory listened absently to Lane speak, while watching people wander past Luke's.

Taylor and Kirk, Miss Patty and Andrew. Rory wondered how people change, but stay the same.

She'd gone to seek bigger things… Now she was back, changed and unchanged.

Into the vista walked Dean Forrester. Leaner, shaggier, and even more handsome than Rory remembered.

He spotted Rory, and smiled. At her.

Heart pounding, she blinked at Lane.

"He asked," Lane said. "About you."

Rory thought about change and time and how she felt sixteen again when she'd looked at Dean.

Maybe there were second chances after all.

Yeah:) Although everytime I saw him I kept missing his hair style from later episodes and Supernatural. The full bangs look works soo much better for him.
