(I spent 2 hours today writing and need to throw it all away. Grr.)

A meme from my pharmaceutical friend [livejournal.com profile] hsifyppah

The year is coming to a close, which means it's time for Retroactive New Year's Resolutions! Because prospective resolutions are just so depressing - who can keep them?

Here are mine! I mean, here were mine:

1. Take lots of fabulous pictures
2. Develop several fabulous girly drinks.
3. Write crazy fanfic and crossovers and enjoy pushing the boundaries of "Can you really do that? Better yet, should you?"
4. Get a new car, a shiny black one
5. Find several new Indian dishes for cookings
6. Fangirl House MD, like, total.

What are your retroactive resolutions for 2007?

My brother just gave me a copy of the first graphic novel. The artwork is not bad. I'm not too crazy about the hair that seems to be in every character's face. lol

I wonder how they will handle the graphic sex scenes.

1. Get a summer job not connected to the family business.
2. Get a new-ish car--meaning made within the current millenium and not previously-owned by a member of my immediate family.
3. Write some fan fic.
4. Decisively cement out a Senior Capstone project.
5. Send out an original story to a publisher.
6. Find lots of really good fics I haven't read before.
7. Fangirl Mhal.

...Yeah, that should work for now. I feel so accomplished when I look at things from this end!

What's Senior Capstone?

And I need to accomplish #5 of my own for next year. Seriously.

Aren't retrospective resolutions fun?

At my college, there's a six-phase writing program: Phase 1 is a writing seminar held during the two weeks of new student orientation, I don't know what phase 2 is because as a transfer student I didn't need it, phase 3 is one of several class options--I took it via a History of Mexico class.

The last three phases are the most difficult/time-consuming/annoying/usefull. Phase four has two parts: a proctored persuasive essay--which I nailed on the first try--and a 5-6 page essay from your major, if it applies to your major. That took me FOREVER, because they're extra-picky on that essay. Phase 5 is a research paper in your major, and generally has an entire class devoted to the development of the project. My phase 5 paper was on the portrayal of women in Lewis Carrol's Alice books, with established literary criticism canon to back up my views. That, while not taking quite as much revision as Phase 4, almost drove me nuts because I didn't find out until I was home after break that I was supposed to give a full annotated bibliography on *20* sources, when I only actually used, like, six or seven. Let's just say that my local library sucks when it comes to finding that kind of material. I ended up mooching off of my brother's electronic school library connection.

Phase 6, the Capstone, is--for a Creative Writing major--the Big One. A collection of poetry, a collection of short stories, a novella, or a chunk of a novel, numbering in pages approximately 150--it's been a while, and I don't remember the specific requirements. I'm trying to get as much of my capstone done before I head back in March as I can.
