TV recaps; ponderings about the writings
Sep. 28th, 2009 09:32 pmMy TV show recaps so far this year:
PS SPOILERS FOR ALL
Bones: I didn't watch Bones last year because of the Zack thing, but I caught the premiere and am once again in the thick of things. The undeniable chemistry between David Boreanez and Emily Deschanel just makes the show. Not even the sexual tension, but the banter and the by-play. That's what I like - intelligent people being all hot together. But back to characters and shows: I like how things are going so far this season. I'm glad the ensemble is back and look forward to things to come.
NCIS: OH MY GOD could they have hit on more of my fandom... not kinks, because that's slightly creepy when considering what Ziva's gone through, but maybe fandom "interests". As in this is relevant to my interests. I can't wait for more, only I can because I'm trying to write a traumatized!Ziva fic and it's coming too slowly to be relevant, sadly.I hope the writers drag this out.
Criminal Minds: I know that they had to do something to explain MGG's knee, but the whole ep felt really rushed. Like, where was the scene in which the team consoled Reid AFTER HE WAS SHOT IN THE LEG BY A KILLAR?? I want moar team, stat. Although everyone was really awesome and the ambiguity with Hotch andPony Boy Foyet was lovely.
geeze, I watch a lot of cop shows.
Writerly
I have the beginnings of five open chapters/stories on my laptop right now. They star, in no order:
Ziva David (NCIS)
Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
Elizabeth Weir (SGA)
and girl!Sheppard for whom I have no icon.
Also, now that I think of it, every one of these stories also features
John Sheppard in one form or another. Hmm.
I am also working on Inevitable
(still I swear) so that concludes the triumvirate (quintet-virate?) of dark-haired damaged little girls. I don't entirely understand why I do this, but oh well.

Date: 2009-09-29 06:19 am (UTC)Does narrative kinks sound less creepy? I use that quite a bit to encapsulate things that make me squee in a story, like Lovecraftian horrors and gritty fairytales and improvised explosives to escape terrible monsters. :)

Date: 2009-09-29 10:27 am (UTC)re quintet-virate: *puts on Latin!geek cap* My guess would be quinquevirate... oh wait, *looks at Latin dictionary* That word even exists. Huh. XD Yep, quinquevirate. Or you could say quinquepuellate maybe what with them being girls and not men... that word doesn't exist though. *takes of Latin/geek cap* :)

Date: 2009-09-29 11:20 am (UTC)I agree with you on CM feeling a little rushed- and it was SUPER obvious that MGG couldn't stand. They kept on showing everyone else walking in, then *boom* MGG was also in the scene, but sitting down. Hmmmm.
Of course, the part that really got me about the CM premiere was that Rossi's all, we won the day! Everything's happy! And I was all O.o because REID GOT SHOT and it's unclear if anyone bothered to tell Hotch OR go comfort him in the hospital.
And yay! for stories from you :D :D

Date: 2009-09-29 05:11 pm (UTC)NCIS--I caught a rerun on TNT or somewhere last week and saw Ziva David for the first time. It appeared to be one of (if not THE) first episode she was in, and I liked it (I liked HER) a lot. I'd never watched that show before, but I caught a couple more and liked them. So when I saw a preview for this week's ep, I added it to the Tivo list. I might end up watching the show regularly now.
CRIMINAL MINDS--My wife watches it, but I never got into it.

Date: 2009-09-29 06:39 pm (UTC)This. This is what makes Bones such an awesome show.
NCIS's premiere was made of awesome! I'm so looking forward to the rest of the season.
It was completely, totally obvious that MGG couldn't walk. Poor guy. I agree, there needed to be more team stuff. Tiny bits I did like along those lines involved all of Prentiss' reactions to the stuff going on with Hotch.
Oh yay for writing! I love your stories so much, so I'm very excited to hear that you're working on some fantastic sounding stories.
Inevitable
Date: 2009-09-29 09:17 pm (UTC)In the meantime I'll probably reread it (again), it's an awesome fic.
Congrats
Date: 2009-10-01 09:34 pm (UTC)All the more reason for everyone to go back and read it again.
As for a vote on "what next?" Spin has mine.
