Reasons I'm glad I watch Castle #24

mhalachaik, so obviously spoilers for tonight's Castle ep: In tonight's Castle ep, they rolled out the tired "pick-up-artist who keeps a conquest book with pictures" plot line, and we (with Castle, Beckett and Esposito) find out in the B-story that Ryan's fiancée Jenny, whom he will be marrying at the end of the ep, was one of those conquests. A month after they started dating.
So you know what this is supposed to mean in cliché land: Ryan finds out his fiancée had sex with someone else, he blows a hissy fit, and the wedding is off. Because in the traditional world of Hollywood, what else can happen>
Only. The gang sits Ryan down to shove some food into him, Esposito starts the Talk, and Ryan totally busts up the moment by asking off the cuff is Jenny was in the ledger, which he knows about because he and she were talking about the case the previous night (like adults) and she told him that she and the pick-up artist hooked up back when she and Ryan were non-exclusive and Ryan was all like, whatever right?
And I nearly fell off my chair because I don't think I've ever seen a show that took a similar situation and:
a) didn't slut-shame the girl to some extent,
b) didn't make the guy some raging jealous freak, and
c) wouldn't end the situation by halting the wedding.
But they also put in the nod to the traditional view of female sexuality with the Beckett/Castle exchange where he gets uncomfortable at the thought of Kate having sex (with other men). But even then, she turned the cliche on its head by not getting defensive, but taking control of the situation and making Castle seem like the less-than-reasonable one.
Which just reminds me of how strong Castle can be on gender and female sexual empowerment issues, but it was a refreshing start to my Monday night.
Also, why is Beckett suddenly calling Esposito "Espo" at every turn? It's kind of jarring after 3.5 years of Esposito...
In other news, does anyone know if there's any fandom presence for either Unforgettable or A Gifted Man? They are my current guilty pleasures and I can't find a thing...
