1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. Post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your LJ.
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others ask to be interviewed, give them five questions. If you've have already played this game with others, feel free to have me ask you questions, and you can just respond in comments.
Houses's questions
1. Indian or Thai food is your preference?
Indian all the way. There's something about Thai food that my taste buds just don't like. I can't figure it out. But I looove Indian food.
2. Are you a Star Wars fan, and can we go see it when I'm in town?
Yes, sort of... Attack of the Clones made me so!angry! but I'm willing to go see any movie in which Samuel L. Jackson kicks the bucket. And yes!
3. If you could live any where in the world, where would it be?
I know it's boring, but here in Vancouver. I love where I live, I love the people, the food, the television. I mean, I'd like a swanker apartment and a nicer job, but those are doable. Plus my parents are close, and it's not too cold in the winter.
4. Does subsidized health care really work as well as Americans hear it does?
Short answer? Yes. Long answer? The way the Canadian system and most other state-paid healthcare systems in the world are set up cannot be applied to the US at this late stage. In Canada, everyone gets health care, they may just need to wait a bit on it (for knee replacements and stuff). But if you're in a car crash with your entire family, all of the costs for the emergency response and hospital stays and rehab is all paid for. If you need to have your gall bladder removed because it's going to go explody, again, all the in-hospital drugs and doctors and nurses time is free. You don't go broke if you have no insurance.
That said, a two-tiered system does exist. If you want faster health care and can afford it, you can go to any of the new private clinics or to the State and pay for your own knee replacement.
But healthcare costs in the US are more than twice those in Canada. Did I post this over on the other blog? There was an article in the NYTimes that the U.S. government spent only a little less per capita on health care than the Canadian government, but the total cost for health care was more than double the Canadian number, with the consumer and the insurance companies picking up the rest. Why are costs so high? Doctors are paid more, drugs cost more, equipment is newer... which is great for drug companies and people with lots and lots of money. The rest... meh.
As you can tell, I'm pro-Canada's health care system.
5. If you could take home one Laurel K Hamilton guy for the rest of your days, ie, marry the fella, who would it be and why?
This is the one that gave me the hardest time. I'm not really sure. But you know what? My mind keeps telling me Jason. Yes, Jason. He's loyal, and although a real pain the ass at times, he's got a wicked sense of humor that I'd be able to live with.
