Anita looked down, at where Nathaniel's hands lay in her lap. "Yeah."
Nathaniel knew she was probably thinking of when her own mother died. He knew that, at six years old, she'd had to be the strong one when her father fell apart at her mother's death. She'd always been the strong one.
I just love that exchange. It sums up Anita's life quite nicely. :)
