For you, gentle reader.

1. A fic rec for Firefly -- A Handful Of Beans by [livejournal.com profile] aliaspiral (alianora). It is River-centric, and is a terrifyingly beautiful look at River's head at the Academy. Short and oh so bittersweet.

2. I placed third in another icontest over at [livejournal.com profile] profiler_fans:

3. Five Anita Blake drabbles of mine are up over at [livejournal.com profile] abvh100. They are for the five senses challenge, and you can read the drabbles here.

4. Have you ever wondered if your favourite fanfics have a soundtrack? A theme song? I've been thinking about this a lot recently, and realize that two of my stories have theme songs. The theme song for Inevitable is Cells by The Servant. The theme song for Switchback is Hurt by Johnny Cash. Make of that what you will (I can send you to places online to get the songs if you haven't heard them. Email me, at mhalahcai at gmail dot com.).

5. In a frantic panic celebration before Serenity comes out, I need to work on Different Eyes over the weekend. But after that... who knows? So, I present to you, gentle reader, a poll:
[Poll #576418]
Voting will end whenever I stick up the next chapter of Different Eyes.

It was a toss up between Candlelight and Inevitable, but Candlelight won out because I need a Buffy/Rafael fix. I never thought I'd want to read that pairing until you wrote it - now I can't get enough.

Truth be told, I think I'd read a Snape/Trelawney if you were the author, and that couple is very off-putting.

Edited: I accidentally wrote Candlelick instead of light. I suppose that's my brain's payback for being awake for 48 hours.

Snape/Trelawney? ew in so many ways. Don't worry, I'll never do that.

Awake for 48 hours? What for? I have a hard enough time being awake for 20 hours sometimes.

LOL, my thoughts exactly.

Awake for 48 hours? What for?

Work. New Mexico is taking in many of the furry victims of Katrina and our office is overflowing with animals. I slept all day today, though, so I feel much improved. *g*

For me it was a toss-up between Inevitable and Switchback but Switchback will still be here when Inevitable is finally done. (I promise to comment on the last Inevitable chapter today.)

finally done.... what a wonderful thought. *sigh* So much still to do in Inevitable.

Waah! How can you ask a question like that? I finally chose Inevitable, but...anything, really. I'm easy.

(and yay for more Different Eyes soon!)

It's simple -- I'm easy like that, and since all the chapter parts are swlring in my head, it's a matter of just spending the time to write it out. Hence the poll

I voted for Switchback, which hasn't got all that many votes, because dude, it's such a brilliant idea for a story, and really, there are other ways to get an Inevitable-like fix in the meantime, while I don't know about any stories that have the same brilliant idea as Switchback. *wants more Switchback* *wanders off to reread*

Oh, Switchback is so much fun, and also the hardest thing I've ever tried to write. I think I'm crazy to have even started it (but no worries, I'll finish it at some point. Promise).

Good, because I'm really looking forwards to seeing where you take it :)

I voted for Inevitable, being the HP geek that I am. (And, sad to say, because I haven't read the others because I don't know much about their canon sources.)

I'm such an Inevitable junkie that I had to write two silly ficlets based on it. Here's the latest. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/catherinecookmn/12333.html#cutid1) (Yes, yes, doctor, I'll follow the nice men in the white jackets...)

Haven't you read the Anita Blake books? I mean, Switchback is pure AB.

Next post, can I pimp the Inevitable ficlette? So everyone will see it?

From: [identity profile] catherinecookmn.livejournal.com
Arrgh! I was thinking of the Firefly and Smallville fics when I typed that. The real reason I didn't read Switchback and Candlelight is because I am a lazy dweeb. (I really like the time-travel plot point of Switchback, by the way. Especially wondering how an older and -- perhaps -- wiser Anita might deal with the things she'd dealt with two years ago.)

Oh, and as for the ficlet, please pimp away! I've removed the locks on both that one and Russet Tiger, so they're both public now.

I voted for Candlelight because it has the fewest chapters and it has oldest update.

Can my bird and my guinea pigs and my rat and the cats I'm babysitting all vote for 'Candlelight' too? 'cause they want an update. Really. They told me so.

As far as theme music goes: Already have Johnny Cash's cover (and now definitive version) of "Hurt". In fact, we have a DVD of the video for it somewhere -- highly recommended. Johnny knew his number was up.

Don't have "Cells", though. What sort of entity is The Servant?

From: [identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com
Part of "Cells" was the music in the Sin City trailer.... but that really doesn't begin to describe it. If you send me your email, I can arrange to get you a copy of the song.

The band, as far as I can tell, is obscure and European. Still trying to figure out a way to get the album without having to buy it online for $40US.

I would totally love a copy of that song, if possible. I think it works brilliantly in Sin City.
