First, an announcement -- Three new fics added to the The Ginourmous list of Anita Blake/Harry Potter fanfic. Two from our very own [livejournal.com profile] catherinecookmn, based on the Inevitable universe! Rock.

Now, me. So I spent my day going over and over stuff. I've got half a Firefly ficlette done (post-movie), and am 1,800 words into an Anita Blake/BtVS fic, based on Thanksgiving. I'm trying to write Anita not being all together correct, and it's basically a characterization challenge. Hopefully I can get it done. Or at least get something done. On the upside, I know where this next chapter of Switchback will end (at about 6pm, and to anyone who's recently read Circus of the Damned, you'll know who Anita is meeting for the first/millionth time the chapter after this one).

Other than writing, this evening, I've been making icons for icontests and been watching the Daily Show. Yes, I'm dull. And after this meme, I'm going out for a walk in the rain. Or, um, maybe go to bed.

From [livejournal.com profile] houses7177: Think about what makes you, well, you. Doesn't have to be monumental, it can be little things.

How I define myself:

I am a person who...
1. ... is very empathetic. I often pick up on how others are feeling, and it can impact my mood and thoughts.
2. ... writes. It's who I am. A writer. Fiction or non-fiction, fanfic or original work, it's my thing. Putting words to the screen.
3. ... is very particular about her beer. I cannot really drink any other form of alcohol, as it would make me cranky and generate a hangover the next morning. I'm much better with beer, and the beer has to be very specific. This is what happens when you live in the microbrew capital of Canada.
4. ... loves music. I've had a walkman or mp3 player since I as about 13.
5. ... has no hesitation to tell you what I think about politics. To the point of bluntness.
6. ... stutters occasionally, and isn't overly happy about it. Also, I talk way too fast.
7. ... has been burned once, and is twice shy.
8. ... had conservative politics when I was a child, but I got better.
9. ... wants to make a lasting contribution, but sometimes I wonder if any of it means anything.
10. ... sometimes doesn't understand why anyone wants to be my friend, but wants to be friends with people none-the-less.

Heh. You sound like the twin sister I never had. Except you got the cool hair and the height genes, while I have to put henna in my hair. Pout.

Oh, and may I say how much I adore this Edward/Narcissa fic from the Ginormous list? Edward is what Bellatrix merely thinks she is. Oh, Narcissa, you poor thing... Edward always gets his man. Or woman.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks 10.

Some of those stories are brillant, I agree. And Edward is truly at the top of his game.

There are days that I'd like my hair to be redder, and I consider dying it. Then I stop considering it, because I'm lazy. Also cheap. Too cheap to pay for a proper dye job.

K, now I'm just rambling.

Rambling right back atcha!

Go get yourself some Light Mountain Natural Henna. Seriously. It's cheap (about $6 Canadian for a box with enough for 2-4 applications), and you can easily remove it with Dr. Bronner's -- or any other really strong shampoo -- if you don't like it.

Start with clean hair. Use about one ounce's worth of henna (it's a fine olive-green powder), mixed with hot water until it's about the consistency of wet plaster, then put all over your hair. Avoid eyes. If your hair is longer than shoulder length, use two ounces. Put a shower cap on (they provide a plastic one, but a shower cap works better). You can now either hit it with a hair dryer for fifteen minutes so it steam-bakes on under the shower cap, or throw a towel around your head for about forty-five minutess and rely on your body heat to do the job. Step into shower and rinse out the henna.

That's it. Your new hair color will last you between four to six weeks, and the beauty part is that it looks better the more you wash -- it blends in better over time. (You can also do additional applications to reinforce the color and get any spots you missed.)

SWITCHBACK!!!!! Alright! Now that's the stuff.

Speaking of ten...I know I'm brilliant; I'm just not sure if I convey that brilliance to other people. This is why I am a person who:

1. has few but very close and good friends...who are just as wierd as I in their own special ways.
2. is a brilliant piano composer.
3. almost failed English in HS three times because I was too busy reading other books and stuff (you know the 'stuff') rather than the assignments (managed to scrape by with B's and C's, TG!).
4. is absolutely addicted to fanfiction, any ff will do so long as it's good.
5. , despite an avid facination with The Arts, has decided a career with The Moste Beloved Physics would be best persued as The Calculus was my First True Passion and TMBP are even neater.

The patterns, of the world in which we live, are vastly complicated, and only the fool, the madman and the genius seek to fully understand them.
