This is pretty cool -- an on-line vocab game that will donate 10 grains of rice to the UN World Food Programme for every question you get right.

BBC story on the game
I got to 350 grains of rice and the questions got too hard for me. And I call myself a writer :P
Anyway, something to pass the time that will do something good for someone else.

I learned most of my advanced vocabulary from borrowing my parents' books as a kid; I can conjure an image of what they mean when presented in context, but as for knowing the definition of one standing on its own, and extrapolating from there to an appropriate synonym? *cudgels brain*
Good link, thanks.
