When you don't know what you want
You end up finding that you haunt your own life

I'm drifting.

I tried to pay attention. But one day Bert told me they thought I should take a break, because of what happened. I didn’t argue. Should I have argued?

Nathaniel was so careful of me. They all were, even Jean-Claude.

I wonder if he’s sorry Micah's dead.

You're the daylight ghost that creeps
You're the empty city streets

Micah's dead. Because I wasn't fast enough to save him. I'm not sure what to do now.

All I want is him back.

That's fair lovely. Haunting, too.

I wonder what it would take for Anita to start living again if one of her loved ones died.

Then again, that Anita is grieving so completely is disturbing me. Remember how she scolds Edward's fiance for falling apart and how she detests how her father fell apart after her mother's death. I think that Anita would be one to suppress the grief, to be strong until she was safe to fall apart.

I think that Micah's gotten himself inside her life to the point where she would hit very hard with his death, especially if she viewed it as her fault. And as I wrote, or at least tried to get across, she'd try and suppress, but I don't think she could pull it off. She'd try and do everything she used to, but I think she'd try and shove it all down until she totally collpased.

{{And as I wrote, or at least tried to get across, she'd try and suppress, but I don't think she could pull it off.}}

Is that the line, 'I tried to pay attention.'?

That doesn't read to me that she tried to suppress her feelings. Well, maybe vaguely. It seems more as though she simply failed to pay attention that day that Bert said go home. But I agree, if Anita were to have a complete breakdown, what you describe here is a pre~~ty darn good description. You even added that line of doubting Jean-Claude...which I think is very in character for Anitia.

And there's always this: We often tend to repeat our parents' mistakes, even if we think we're rejecting them. Anita may at an unconscious level think that falling apart is OK, because it's what she learned from her father as a child -- and lessons learned before puberty are very tough to unlearn.

Nooo...Micah!!

Poor Anita, it really is a question of what would happend to her if a loved one died, isn't it? First, before she did any grieving, I think she'd seek revenge. It only makes sense...kill the thing that killed her lover, then grieve with the ones left.

Yes, first with the killing. But I don't know if she could properly grieve if it was her fault. With the wereleopards, she would need to be "in charge," but if she let Micah die, then how can she lead anyone? She would need to be strong, and strong means not grieving. Strong means suppressing. In the end, strong means going on until you collapse under the weight of it all.

Wow! Bert telling Anita to take a day off? :) Very cute songfic.

By the way, I was over at tth earlier and opened a new fic called "Inescapable". The author based it on your "Inevitable" and stated they were using your very own text and mixing their own in with it. I was the second person to view it. By the time I clicked back to the 'latest' part of tth to see if somehow my eyes had decieved me it was already taken off.

Way to go tth moderators!

Now, here's the question m'lady. Are you honored that someone liked your fic enough to write a fic based on it even if they used your text or are you irritated with it in general?

I have to tell you, when I read the disclaimer at the top that said the individual was taking stuff directly from "Inevitable" (that was in black script apparently) and only writing a little of their own in the beginning (which was apparently in blue script but I didn't see it) my first thought was "Mhalachai agreed to this?!?

Thanks

Yes, I know about it. It's sort of the same thing as [livejournal.com profile] catherinecookmn's Inevitable-based ficlettes, as long as I get credit for the content it's fine. Email me so we can chat more about this (mhalachai at gmail dot com)

You know...I hadn't thought of it that way, but you've really got a point. It truly must be something bad (like the sky is falling) if Bert volunteers a day off.

more like:

"let's let Anita go home, before she decides to go postal on our asses."

"Yeah, and send Bert to tell her. Make him earn his pay this month"

You. killed. Micah. I think I'm in shock over the very concept.
It's not a good sign that Bert suggest Anita take a break.
Still reeling.
